INFORMATION This booklet contains general information concerning school require- CLASS CHANGES ments, courses available for study and other items for consideration for high school planning.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Kelsey Rhoney (312-729-3685) EDMOND NORTH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETE NAMED GATORADE OKLAHOMA BOYS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR CHICAGO (June 6, 2018) — In its 33rd year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, today announced Daryl Dike of Edmond North High School as its 2017-18 Gatorade Oklahoma Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Dike is the first Gatorade Oklahoma Boys Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Edmond North High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Dike as Oklahoma’s best high school boys soccer player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award to be announced in June, Dike joins an elite alumni association of past state soccer award-winners, including Alexi Lalas (1987-88, Cranbrook HS, Mich.), Steve Cherundolo (1996-97, Mt. Carmel HS, Calif.), Abby Wambach (1997-98, Our Lady of Mercy, N.Y.), Heather O’Reilly (2001-02, 2002-03, East Brunswick HS, N.J.), Matt Besler (2004-04, Blue Valley West HS, Kans.), Jack Harrison (2013- 14, Berkshire HS, Mass.), Mallory Pugh (2014-15, Mountain Vista HS, Colo.). The 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior forward scored 19 goals and passed for 5 assists this past season, leading the Huskies (11-7) to the Class 6A semifinals. The two-time Tulsa World All-City Player of the Year, Dike broke the Class 6A state record for career goals scored, graduating with 71 goals, and was named the Jim Thorpe Male Player of the Year in soccer.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Evans as Oklahoma’s best high school volleyball player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award to be announced in January, Evans joins an elite alumni association of state award-winners in 12 sports, including USA Volleyball players Kayla Banwarth (2006-07, Wahlert HS, Iowa), Alisha Glass (2005-06, Leland Public HS, Mich.), Jordan Larson (2004-05, Logan View HS, Neb.) and Foluke Akinradewo (2004-05, St. Thomas HS, Fla.). The 6-foot-1 senior outside hitter led the Bulldogs to a 31-2 record and the Class 6A state championship this past season. Evans tallied 350 kills, 433 digs, 60 blocks and 42 service aces while posting a kill percentage of .432 and a hitting percentage of .357. A MaxPreps Third Team All-American, Evans was the state tournament MVP. She concluded her prep volleyball career with 1,091 kills and 1,220 digs.
