Introduction ―If the social is inextricably spatial and the spatial impossible to di- vorce from its social construction and content, it follows not only that social processes should be analysed as taking place spatially but also that what have been thought of as spatial patterns can be conceptual- ised in terms of social processes.‖ (Massey, 1995:65) The point of view adopted in this thesis is one of essential geographical im- portance: The focus is on representational practices through which identities and difference are constituted and perpetuated, and result in material ef- fects. Certain places and people are viewed as prosperous, with a bright future ahead, while others are depicted as weak and marginal and in need of sup- port from stronger regions or the state. Places are involved in the wider ‗power geometries‘ of the processes of globalization, and regions that are less favored in global processes of restructuring typically suffer from unemploy- ment and out-migration (Massey, 2004; Eriksson, 2009).

The project started March 15 2013 and ended October 31 2014. Originally the project was scheduled to end April 15 2014, but for several reasons the project applied for and was granted extension until October 31 2014. The coordinating funding receiver has been Umeå University and the other Swedish partners has been the municipalities of Sorsele and Storuman. In Norway the partners has been Nesna University College, University of Nordland, the municipal of Bodø and the Norwegian National Collection Agency in Mo i Rana. In short, Bitstream is based on the starting-point that successful development of public administration requires good understanding of how its activities are conducted and how they are perceived by its citizens/customers. This means that process mapping and subsequent process analysis and impact mapping is a fundamental condition for innovative business development aimed at creating ICT innovations in the form of, for example, mobile apps or web-based services. The main objective of the project was to create a transnational platform for capacity building and exchange of experiences in the area of innovative business development.

    CROSSING BORDERS BETWEEN EDUCATION AND WORK- PLACES Hallstein Hegerholm, Nesna University College, NO, [email protected] Ulf Hedestig, University of Umeå, SE, [email protected] Geir-Tore Klæbo, Nesna University College, NO, [email protected] ABSTRACT This paper presents a case study on workplace learning were Swedish and Norwegian public authorities participated in an academic course in business process modelling. The aim has been to develop an un- derstanding of how partners in a transnational project can build bridges between the academic teaching and the students’ local learning at work. A sociocultural framework was applied in the study focusing on the use of tools, the building of knowledge and learning in the zone of proximal development, the crossing of boarders, and interaction and networking between activities. The source of data consisted of inter- views, surveys, observations, data from learning management system, and student’s reports. Analyse of the data was based on four dialogical learning mechanisms – identification, coordination, reflection and transformation. Our findings show that students’ local cases acted as key drivers for their developmental process, as the course transformed from distribution of information to case based knowledge building process at local work places. A mutual learning process occurred when teacher and students taught each other in a zone of proximal development. Further, the use of business model techniques made the inter- pretation of academic discipline easier, since it created a common language that served as a foundation for shared understanding when they discussed their local cases. Locating her poem within the gendered body, Bernal weaves together the politics of public and private space, the state and nationalism. While no single poem can represent the diverse issues and questions in feminist geog- raphy, the centrality of the body in her poem is significant. Only a few decades after feminists levered “woman” and “gender” into the lexicon of geographic thought, it is “the body” and the multidimensionality of embodied experience(s) that con- tinue to anchor feminist geography at the dawn of the twenty-first century.     Essay Neil Smith Marxism and Geography in the Anglophone World In October 1997 an article appeared in the impeccably bourgeois magazine, the New Yorker, which championed Karl Marx as the “next new thinker”. Down on Wall Street, wrote John Cassidy, there is a new appreciation for Marx’s understanding of capitalism, and a sense that Marx anticipated brilliantly what so-called globalization was all about th (Cassidy 1997). The impending 150 anniversary of The Communist Manifesto intensified the clamour. As Marx and Engels famously wrote there, the bourgeoisie “creates a world after its own image”, and so with the dragon of international socialism apparently slain after 1989, despite local holdouts in Cuba and North Korea, and with Marx no longer the demon of capital, expectant young Wall Street financiers could embrace Marx’s vivid depiction of capitalism as a remarkably prescient portrait of the neo-liberal global order they themselves strove to create. Marx had brilliantly anticipated globalization, and Wall Street thought it was a good thing. But the “Marx boom” of 1997-98 quickly fizzled as capitalism itself turned sour. The Asian economic crisis exploded, Indonesia’s Suharto was overthrown in a deadly revolt, and the economic malaise spread to Brazil, Mexico and Russia. Marx, it seemed, still had a sting in his tail. Reading Das Kapital to understand how capitalism really worked was one thing. Singeln ”Vårt år”, tillsammans med Estrad, har i dagsläget sålt guld och streamats nästan 10 miljoner gånger, och Tjuvjakts gästspel tillsammans med Movits! på singeln ”Sodavatten” har en dryg månad efter release streamats över 2 miljoner gånger. Därmed är det – efter ett succéartat 2018 och tidigt ’19 – dags att ta sig an Sverige i sommarskrud! Tjuvjakt är idag bekräftade för 8 datum längs Sveriges vägar under sommarmånaderna 2019 – och gör bland annat ett stopp på Gröna Lund, där de spelar på Stora Scenen den 14 juni.
