Register of Landowner Deposits under Highways Act 1980 and Commons Act 2006 The first part of this register contains entries for all CA16 combined deposits received since 1st October 2013, and these all have scanned copies of the deposits attached. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Response to Consultation (Non statutory Consultees) A significant number of representations have been received both for and against the development. The following is not a scientific analysis of all the correspondence but provides Members with a summary that indicates the quantity of responses; what the major issue were and examples of what was raised. Petition One petition was received that was signed by 3081 people. It stated the following; ‘I, the undersigned, would like to register my strong objection to the proposed Bullington Cross and Woodmancott wind farm developments in Hampshire. This is due to the concerns of air safety in the area of intense Micro light activity and intense military aircraft. There are great dangers of mid-air collisions, or engine failure on take-off, due to the excessive height of the 415ft wind turbines.’ Oppose (1329 received 1st May 2013 and 20th May 2014) There were no obvious duplicate letters of objection but the following sentence was used as the start of a significant number of the letters, with some contributors then adding more. ‘As someone who values the countryside I Object to the proposed wind farm near Bullington Cross because these moving industrial structures will spoil the tranquillity and scenic beauty of the Hampshire landscape.’ Visual impact / Landscape (1052) • Price is too high; the detrimental impact on the landscape outweighs any benefit • Hampshire known for countryside and Hampshire villages, this will only have a negative impact. • North Hampshire countryside is not renewable • Negative impact on landscape character • Ruining a truly special area of English countryside • Heritage environment; numerous conservation Areas and Listed buildings • Dominate landscape and townscape of surrounding villages and towns.

Field Meetings and Lectures, 19^8-^9 HE season opened on Tuesday, 13 May, when members visited St. Cross Hospital and were welcomed by the Master (the Rev. G. T. Carlisle), the lecturer in the Chapel Tbeing Mr Ralph Dutton of Hinton Ampner, one of the Trustees of the Hospital. He also conducted the members round the Hospital buildings. In the Hall a selection of the Hospital archives were on view and were described by Mrs W. J. Carpenter Turner. In the afternoon the Annual General Meeting took place in the Council Chamber of the Castle, the President (Commander E. C. Wrey, O.B.E., R.N.) being re-elected for another year of office. His Presidential Address dealt with the Archaeology of the New Forest. On 7 June the Club visited Beaulieu Abbey, Mr A. Temple Patterson, M.A., F.R.HIST.S., of Southampton University, being the lecturer. Picnic lunches were eaten by members, after which Captain H. Widnell, Warden of Beaulieu Abbey, conducted the party over the Palace House, the former gatehouse, later converted into a residence and now the home of Lord Montagu. He also showed them round the Motor Car Museum. The party then proceeded to Minstead, where the exceedingly quaint and ' unrestored' Church was inspected under the guidance of Mr R. L. P. Jowitt. Tea followed at the ' Trusty Servant' Inn. On 21 June there was an afternoon meeting in Southampton, when Mr John S. Wacher, B.SC, F.S.A., conducted members round various archaeological sites, upon which excavation work was proceeding. On 7 July Hampton Court and Strawberry Hill, Middlesex, were the objectives, under the leadership of Mr John Simpson.

, PAPERS AND!PROCEEDINGS 187 NATURAL HISTORY SECTION, 1955 General Remarks NCE again, may I take this opportunity of thanking all those who have kindly contributed to the activities of the Club O during the past year, in particular, the organisers of our three most successful and enjoyable field meetings. Reports of these expeditions will be found at the end of this Section. As always, the greatest activity has been on the ornithological side, and the quality of this year's report, the most, comprehensive yet produced by the Hampshire Field Club, is in no small measure due to the Subject Secretary, Mr.. Edwin Cohen. The newly formed Ornithological Section has amply justified its existence and its membership has now reached eighty-four. Seven meetings have been held so far with an average attendance of about twenty-five. These have provided good opportunities for the exchange of bird records and have brought together ornithologists' from different parts of the County. Enquiries into the distribution of the Corn Bunting, Stonechat and Whinchat have now been initiated and .should eventually provide a useful indication of the status of these species in Hampshire. Another recent innovation has been the short lecture on localised bird topics of particular interest : this. looks like becoming a regular feature of our meetings in future. There is no doubt that great -opportunities now exist for the formation of Sections concerned with other subjects ; indeed, a nucleus of some twenty-five members already awaits the institution of a Botanical Section. A similar demand exists for Entomology and also, possibly, for the study of mammals as well.
