Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Delhi

After a traditional welcome at Delhi’s Safdarjung station, board the Maharajas’ Express and settle into your fully en-suite cabin. Enjoy dinner on board as you depart for Jaipur. Day 2: Jaipur

Enjoy breakfast on board as you arrive into Jaipur, the Pink City. Disembark to visit Amber Fort, known for its artistic Hindu-style elements. Continue to City Palace for exclusive elephant activities — choose to decorate the animals with bright hues, feed them or take a ride. After lunch, the afternoon is free for optional activities – such as a spa treatment, shopping, or a visit to the City Palace Museum and Jantar Mantar. Dinner served on board. Day 3: Ranthambore & Fatehpur Sikri

Embark on an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park early this morning, keeping an eye out for the elusive tiger. Enjoy lunch on board as you travel to Fatehpur Sikri. Visit this haunting “abandoned” city this afternoon. Dinner on board as the train travels to Agra. Day 4: Agra & Gwalior

Disembark for an early morning visit to the exquisite Taj Mahal, followed by a champagne breakfast. Continue to Gwalior while enjoying lunch in the beautiful dining cars. After a relaxing breakfast and lunch served on board the Maharajas’ Express, spend the afternoon visiting the UNESCO World Heritage temple complex of Khajuraho. Later, you’ll have the option to book a spa session at a luxury hotel or attend the sound and light show at Khajuraho Temple Complex before returning to the train for dinner. Day 6: Varanasi

Tour the holy city of Varanasi including the ancient ruins of Sarnath, Varanasi Silk Weaving Centre,and lunch at the Taj Gateway Hotel. This evening, take a boat ride on the sacred Ganges to witness evening prayer rituals. Dinner is served on board. Day 7: Lucknow

Welcome to the enchanted “City of Nawabs,” Lucknow. Tour the Darwaza, , the spectacular and The Residency. A traditional Awadhi lunch is served at Vivanta by Taj, accompanied by a Kathak dance performance. Back on board, enjoy a festive Indian evening and final dinner on board. Day 8: Delhi
