Morlino will offer a Requiem Mass for Monsignor Delbert L. Schmelzer on Monday, YOUTH MINISTRY August 1, at 7pm at the Bishop O’Connor Center, Holy Name Heights Chapel. As we continue to pray for the soul of our beloved pastor emeritus of Saint Christopher Parish, Bishop Morlino requested that the Tridentine Mass Society of Madison organize a “Month’s Mind” Mass for Monsignor Schmelzer. The “Month’s Mind” tradition involves Love Begins Here celebration of a Requiem Mass one month after a person’s death. The Roman Missal always included Mass texts for the day of death and of burial as well as for the third, seventh, thirtieth day, and one year marks thereafter. The music will be the Missa Defunctorum for 4 Voices by Tomás Luis de Victoria, as well as Gregorian Chant. Many lay people and priests were not able to attend the funeral Mass for Monsignor Schmelzer at Saint Christopher Parish on Friday, July 8 – so this “Month’s Mind Requiem Mass” in the evening is an opportunity to pray for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Schmelzer who was always happy to celebrate Holy Mass for people in the traditional, Extraordinary Form. This is a beautiful way to honor and Nine of our middle school teens participated in Love pray for him in a way that he would have venerated. Begins Here.
