Quick News January 21, 2020 Superintendent’S Thoughts Dr Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Volume 5, Issue 18 Quick News January 21, 2020 Superintendent’s Thoughts Dr. Gretta Kumpf I am truly passionate about Tipp City Schools! I take great pride in celebrating student achievements and seeing our teachers create extraordinary learning opportunities. We have a tradition of excellence that is admired by many and a standard the community embraces. This is something that will continue long after my retirement in late summer. The Board of Education is responsible for hiring the district’s next superintendent. It is an extremely important task! In order to attract the most qualified candidates, the BOE hired a consulting firm that specializes in assisting boards seeking superintendents. One part of the process includes hosting Focus Groups to gather input from staff, students, and community organizations. Another element is the Community Forum (see below for details). During the focus groups and community forum the consultants will gather input that will be used to create a unique profile of what the community is looking for in its next superintendent. Information will be presented to the board with a profile of desired leadership characteristics. I encourage you to be a part of this process and the future of Tipp City Schools. THANK YOU! WE are TIPP! “Together” we are Extraordinary Your Input is Needed Superintendent Search Community Forum The Board of Education is seeking input from the community on the characteristics, skills, and experiences that it should consider in evaluating candidates for the district’s next superintendent. All community members are invited to participate. Consultants from K12 Business Consulting, hired by the BOE, will facilitate the listening session. January 23, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tippecanoe High School, Commons Community members who are not able to attend the session are encouraged to complete the brief questionnaire located on the district’s home webpage under District News. Please follow the directions to submit all responses on this important decision. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Theresa Dunaway, BOE President, at [email protected] The Board of Education and the consulting firm also invite community members to provide input by filling out a brief questionnaire: SuperintendentSearchQuestionnaire. Please follow the directions at the end of the questionnaire to submit responses. All questionnaires are due January 24, 2020. • Quick News May 8, 2017
Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Volume 2, Issue 37 Quick News May 8, 2017 Superintendent’s Thoughts Dr. Gretta Kumpf Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for supporting the Tipp City Schools’ levy renewal on May 2nd. It is incredibly gratifying to know that our community values a strong education and recognizes the importance of quality programs in our classrooms. The strong success of this levy is also a testament to the many volunteers who spent hours working on a compelling campaign. They wrote letters to the editors, hosted neighborhood coffees, and spoke to community groups. They worked tirelessly to ensure voters understood the purpose of the levy and its significance to the district’s budget. They remained steadfast and firmly believed in friends, neighbors and the community. While many, many people contributed to this effort, I want to extend a special thank you to our levy campaign leaders, Joellen and Jim Heatherly, who accepted this enormous task. They kept us organized, on target, and committed to our purpose. Their leadership was instrumental in bringing our community together to say “yes” on Issue 4 for Tipp City Schools. Be the Bridge Introducing “New” Principals Some outstanding readers went from elementary student to “Principal for a Day.” The students secured their new role after earning more than one hundred points in the Accelerated Reading program, a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take a comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level.

Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Volume 4, Issue 18 Quick News January 7, 2019 Superintendent’s Thoughts Dr. Gretta Kumpf The safety of our students and staff is a top priority for Tipp City Schools. Most recently, all certified and classified employees completed ALICE Active Shooter Civilian Response Training in partnership with the Tipp City Police Department. This includes administrators, teachers, aides, custodians, cafeteria workers, secretaries, and support staff. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate that describes options people can use to most effectively respond to an aggressive intruder or active shooter situation. The training encourages staff to respond to an emergency based on their situation with the knowledge they have available. The district and police department also hosted a community event for local residents to learn about ALICE and how it can be applied in their personal lives. Thank you to Sargent Chris Graham for his support in our effort to bring this training to our district and to our trainers: Officer Corey Rismiller; Mike Vagedes, LT Ball Intermediate principal; Clay Lavercombe, Tippecanoe Middle School assistant principal; Nick Petro, Broadway Elementary physical education teacher. The next level of staff training will take place in February. WE are TIPP! Two Tipp Schools Recognized by State Board of Education Congratulations to Nevin Coppock Elementary School and LT Ball Intermediate School for earning an overall grade of “A” on the 2017-2018 Ohio School Report Card. As an Overall A Award winner, each school’s report card shows the school is demonstrating high academic performance and building bright futures for students of every background and ability level.

Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Volume 3, Issue 12 Quick News October 24, 2017 Superintendent’s Thoughts Dr. Gretta Kumpf On Tuesday, November 7, voters will elect two Board of Education members. The board’s primary responsibilities are to set the long-term vision for the district, adopt policies, and oversee the annual budget. In order to learn more about the candidates qualifications and their positions on important topics, students enrolled in Tippecanoe High School’s Advanced Placement Government classes are hosting a Meet the Candidates Night on Thursday, October 26th. AP Government students study the foundations of our government and processes of the American political system with an emphasis on policy-making. Organizing this event requires students to research the issues and formulate thought-provoking questions. It gives our students valuable hands-on experience that applies their knowledge of the curriculum. Though students are preparing questions, audience members will have an opportunity to write out their questions they would like to ask the four candidates. Following the formal event, candidates will be available for conversation. The candidates seeking the two seats for the BOE are Corine Doll, Joellen Heatherly, Frank Maus, and Eric Windeknecht. We Are Tipp: The event starts at 7:00 p.m. at THS and is open to the public. The BOE is such an important part of Building True GRIT! our district. I hope many of you will attend. The Tippecanoe High School Marching Band earned its fourth Superior Rating of the season Saturday night at the Marion Local Marching Band Invitational. They received a superior rating from every judge, received their highest score of the season, won first place percussion in their class (which was also the highest percussion score in the entire event), and won 2nd place in the show.
