19 Highlights at Center for Architecture AIA New York During the 2020–21 school year, the Center for Architecture reached 3,600 students, teachers, and parents through virtual school, family, and youth programs and provided free online resources to over 36,000 unique visitors through our Architecture at Home webpage. In-person programming will return this summer. Together, AIA New York and the Center for Architecture award scholarships and grants to architecture students and mid-career professionals. Despite the turbulence of the last year, in 2020 we awarded over $117,000 through our joint scholarship program.

20 Highlights at Digital Exhibitions AIA New York Following the closure of our space as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 the Center for Architecture transformed a selection of popular past exhibitions to a digital exhibition format in order to provide high- quality content to our now-remote audience. These digitized exhibitions include Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture, Single Story Project, and Topiary Tango. The Center for Architecture also created original content for its digital exhibition archive, including Visualize NYC 2021 and The Global Phenomenon of Multifaith Worship Spaces.

21 Highlights at Center for Architecture Lab AIA New York The Center for Architecture Lab is a multi-month, multi-disciplinary residency program that offers new voices in design full authorship over dedicated areas of the Center for Architecture’s digital platforms to create compelling and provocative content that elevates underrepresented perspectives. This year’s inaugural residents are the Indigenous Scholars of Architecture, Planning and Design (ISAPD).
