Superintendent of Schools Depew Union Free School District Depew, NY 14043 2010-Present

Responsible for the instructional leadership of approximately 1800 students and the supervision of faculty and staff of approximately 350.

Instructional Leadership Skills:

 Coordinate and support professional development opportunities, including Teacher Leader initiatives.  Provide opportunities for facilitated conversations about instructional practices and improvement initiatives, including the Annual Professional Performance Review process, the Common Core Learning Standards and Data Driven Inquiry.  Identify data that informs instructional practices to improve student achievement through the utilization of the Comprehensive District Educational Plan and District- wide Data Teams.  Facilitated an educational partnership, after traveling to China in 2010, in order to participate in an exchange and secure a Chinese-English teacher, who was assigned to Cayuga Heights Elementary School, at no cost to the school district for two years.

Financial Management:

 Develop, promote and continually manage a $46 million budget.  Reviewed the completion of a $36 million Capital project in 2010.  Developed, promoted and implemented a $15.8 million Capital project, which downsized facilities and maximized efficiencies in remaining facilities from 2011 through 2014.  In 2016, developed, promoted and implemented a $16.1 million Capital project, which addressed issues from the 5-year facility study, created a new athletic complex and upgraded several safety and security measures.  Continually identify and evaluate innovative cost saving measures, during budget implementation, including right sizing and redeploying faculty and staff throughout the school district.  Negotiated and settled nine concessionary collective bargaining agreements, as well as individual contracts, in a negative financial climate.  Continually evaluate needs and resources, district wide, in order to balance the current budget and comply with the Tax Levy Cap legislation.

Administrative Management Skills:

 Develop and continue to foster a strong relationship with the Board of Education, which is based on solid communication and trust.  Update the Board of Education in efforts to increase their awareness of local and state initiatives, in order to increase student performance.  Facilitate and monitor the development of the Board of Education’s annual goals.  Participate in Joint Board of Education meetings with five other school districts.  Enforce the implementation of four bargaining unit contracts.  Develop and facilitate Superintendent’s Key Communicators Committee and Labor Management Team.  Evaluate and update the Board of Education’s policy manual and Administrative regulations manual.

Superintendent of Schools Lake Shore Central School District Angola, NY 14006 2005 - 2010

Responsible for the instructional leadership of approximately 3000 students and the supervision of faculty and staff of approximately 515.

Instructional Leadership Skills:

 Coordinated and supported professional development opportunities.  Facilitated the design and development of career academies.  Provided opportunities for facilitated conversations about instructional practices and improvement initiatives.  Identified data that informed instructional practices to improve student achievement.  Traveled to China in 2009 to facilitate an educational partnership with China and establish a student and teacher exchange program.

Financial Management:

 Developed and managed a $50 million budget.  Developed and facilitated a two-year, District-wide consolidation plan.  Developed and successfully proposed a $21 million EXCEL Capital project.  Identified and evaluated innovative cost saving measures during budget development and implementation.  Negotiated and settled two concessionary collective bargaining agreements, as well as individual contracts, in a negative financial climate.  Continually evaluated needs and resources, district wide, in order to balance the current budget.  Complied with the New York State Comptroller’s Office audit process and findings.

Director of Secondary Education Lancaster Central School District Lancaster, NY 14086 2003 – 2005

Responsible for the education of 3100 students and the supervision of a staff of 237 and 5 administrators.

Instructional Leadership Skills:

 Facilitated the development and implementation of the curriculum mapping process, including technology integration.  Coordinated and facilitated cross-grade level meetings in the areas of mathematics and English Language Arts.  Coordinated the adoption / support of the Curriculum Mapper software for the Erie I BOCES WNYRIC.  Coordinated several professional development opportunities including, Alan November and curriculum mapping.  Facilitated the design and implementation of two career academies; the Finance Academy and the Health Care Career Academy.  Established innovative programs such as a summer reading project for the ninth through twelfth grade students, freshmen success strategies and a pre-algebra curriculum for at-risk ninth graders.  Developed and delivered a mentor training program based on The Framework for Enhancing Professional Practice by Charlotte Danielson.  Coordinated and presented professional development opportunities for the district administrators during administrative retreats.

Financial Management:

 Co-Managed the secondary budget.  Evaluated secondary staffing needs to determine a more effective and efficient delivery of programs.  Identified and evaluated cost saving measures during a contingency budget proposal and implementation.

Responsible for curriculum, instruction, facility management, professional development, supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff in this 650-student middle / high school with a staff of 51. Approved for tenure as the middle / high school principal.

Instructional Leadership Skills:
