MARINERS RBI CLUB PRESENT 2020 MOOSE CLAUSEN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD TO FORMER MARINERS’ OUTFIELDER BRADEN BISHOP

The Mariners RBI Club has conferred its top community service award on former Mariners’ outfielder Braden Bishop. The 2020 Al “Moose” Clausen Community Service Award will be presented to Bishop on July 23 at the RBI Club luncheon at T-Mobile Park.

Bishop, who is now in the system, is being honored belatedly with the 2020 award, which was delayed due to COVID.

The award is being presented in honor of Bishop’s years of dedication to the cause of Alzheimer’s research, awareness and support for caregivers through the 4MOM charity. Bishop founded the nonprofit after his mother Suzy was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Suzy died in October 2019, but Bishop’s work raising awareness and funds for the cause continues.

Bishop was the Mariners third round selection in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the . He made his Major League debut with the Mariners on March 21, 2019 against the in Tokyo, Japan. The Woodland, CA, native appeared in parts of five minor league seasons in the Mariners organization. On May 17, 2021, Bishop was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants. He is currently on the roster of the Giants Triple-A affiliate Sacramento River Cats, who will be in Tacoma to take on the Rainiers July 22-27.

The RBI Club is an organization of Mariners season ticketholders who are active in the community. The Moose Clausen Award is given by the RBI Club to recognize an individual for significant contributions to the community.

The RBI Community Service Award is named for Al “Moose” Clausen, who in 1982, joined the Mariners Front Office as Director of Sales. Moose retired in 2012. Due to his decades of service to at all levels and the community, the RBI Club and named their Community Service Award for Moose in 2001.
