SMRT Corporation Ltd 251 North Bridge Road Singapore 179102 Tel : 65 6331 1000 Fax : 65 6339 4229 www.smrt.com.sg 22 September 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BUS ROUTE CHANGES DUE TO COMPLETED ROAD WORKS AT MARINA SOUTH Service Announcement ON 28 SEPTEMBER Due to completed works for the road network in the Marina South area from 28 September 2014, there will be route amendments to SMRT services 106, 982E, NR1 and NR6. Bus route changes Due to the straightening of Central Boulevard and expunction of a stretch of slip road between Maxwell Road and Central Boulevard, the existing bus stop along Central Boulevard (BS 03531) will be removed. SMRT bus service 106 travelling towards the direction of Bukit Batok will now call at four new bus stops along Robinson Road and Marina Boulevard. The current bus stop after Marina Station Road and opposite Marina Bay Financial Centre (BS 03539) will be relocated further up the road, outside Marina Bay MRT station. Service 106 heading toward Shenton Way will now call at the newly relocated bus stop. Service 982E will also begin its PM trip towards Choa Chu Kang from this bus stop. Due to the expunction of Marina Station Road, NR1 and NR6 will make a right turn and continue their journey at the junction of Central Boulevard and Bayfront Avenue from Friday, 3 October 2014. Please refer to the attached poster for more details. Dear friends and colleagues, th Welcome to Singapore and the 14 workshop on Quantum Information WƌŽĐĞƐƐŝŶŐ͘ dŚĞ ďŽŽŬůĞƚ ǇŽƵ͛ƌĞ ŚŽůĚŝŶŐ ŝŶ ǇŽƵƌ ŚĂŶĚƐ ĐŽŶƚĂŝŶƐ ƚŚĞ ĞƐƐĞŶƚŝĂů information for you to navigate the packed programme of this week. Instead of boring you with things that you can read in it yourself, let me do so rather by a couple of personal reflections. When I first faced the possibility of organising QIP in Singapore, it was with a mixture of disbelief, excitement and terror. Disbelief that evidently responsible people would entrust to me the foremost conference in the field; obvious excitement over the prospect of bringing three hundred scientists to Singapore; terror in the face of daunting logistical challenges, not to mention the pitfalls of scientific credibility. dŚĂƚ/ĚŝĚŶ͛ƚĚĞƐƉĂŝƌ/ŽǁĞƚŽƚŚĞƚŚŝƌƚǇ-five uniquely professional, enthusiastic and inspired persons of the committees listed overleaf (plus two of such eminent importance that we are not even allowed to name them). In particular the programme committee, chaired by Daniel Gottesman, did a tremendous job of sifting through more than two hundred papers submitted, to select 35 talks and 156 posters. Once local preparations started, we had our good ŵŽŵĞŶƚƐƚŽŽ͗͞^ĐŚƌƂĚŝŶŐĞƌ͛ƐŵŽŶŬĞǇ͛͛ was the first discovery of QIP 2011 ʹ and still remains to be entered into the books of taxonomists.
