July 11, 10 am – 1 pm PRESENTERS Dr. Stefanos Gialamas Dr. Stefanos Gialamas is the President and Head of the American Community Schools of Athens - ACS Athens, Greece.

He holds a BS in Mathematics / Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,Greece, an MS in statistics from York University of Toronto, . He also holds an MA in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Ph.D in Mathematics (Knot Theory) from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Prior to his arrival at ACS he served as the Provost of the American College of Thessaloniki (ACT), Greece. He has also served for several years as the Dean of Academic Leaders, Faculty, and Instruction at the corporate office of DeVry University.

He has taught graduate and undergraduate mathematics, computer, management and leadership courses at universities in Kansas, Wisconsin and Illinois. He has been a Professor, Department Chair, a Dean, a Provost and an education con- sultant since 1990.

Dr. Gialamas’ professional work includes research and teaching in Leadership Development, Faculty Development, Innovative Approaches in Teaching and Learning, Knot Theory, Mathematics and Arts, the History and Philosophy of Mathematics, and Mathematics Education. He has published numerous articles in both English and Greek languages, two books, and many other manuals.

He has received a Mathematics Leadership Award by Pearson Education (2006). He has been also a Consultant/Evaluator for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Universities (Philadelphia, PA) and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (Chicago, IL). He has also served as the Vice President of the Hellenic Institute for the Greek Language and Culture since 2006 (Athens, Greece). In 2002, he was elected Chairman of the Education Committee of the Board of Education of the Illinois High School District 230, representing more than 10,000 students (Chicago, IL).

Dr. Gialamas contributed to the Journal of Human Factor Studies as its Editor (1999 – 2003). He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Alliance, an advisory body to the Governor of Illinois for mathematics education.

He has received Leadership and Educational awards from diverse academic and social institutions and organizations such as the American Association of University Administrators, International Institute for Human Factor Development, Hellenic Council of Education, the University of Wisconsin, Columbia College Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art, and DeVry University. PRESENTERS Dr. Sofia Hilentzaris Dr. Sofia Hilentzaris is a business consultant and a business professor. As a senior level administrator and manager she has managed organizational resources for over twenty years including a number of years as the Director of Support Services at La Rabida Children’s Hospital, Chicago, USA, an affiliate of the University of Chicago, until 2002. Since then she has been doing business consulting internationally including being an executive consultant at SkaiTV and Media Group, Greece.

She has extensive experience in: strategic planning and marketing, organizational development and change, executive/management training, total quality management, continuous quality improvement, administration and manage- ment of human and organizational resources, development, implementation and measurement of organizational outcomes, implementation of process-focused strategies and methodologies for business improvement.

She has over thirty years of combined experience in administration and management and in teaching undergraduate and graduate online, onsite and hybrid business courses including leadership, human resources management, conflict management, organizational behavior and organizational development and change. She has taught at Keller Graduate School of Business, USA, The American College of Thessaloniki and The American College of Greece.

Her latest education/training includes a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at the Swiss Management Center, and a Harvard Executive Training Program in Negotiation and Conflict Management.

She has developed specialized programs, seminars, workshops and conferences. She has presented in such programs internationally in the USA, Europe, the Balkans, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.

She has published many articles and books. Her research inter- ests include organizational creativity and leadership and she is currently authoring a book on Creativity and Leadership.

PRESENTERS Dr. Evangeline Harris Stefanakis Dr. Evangeline Harris Stefanakis' has recently joined the faculty on Boston University’s School of Education as an Associate Professor in the department of Educational Leadership and Development to conduct research and build programs creating diverse leaders of adults and children.

From 2004-7 she served as an Associate Professor in International and Transcultural Studies at Columbia University, focuses on leadership, learning challenges, and team building. For 11 years she served as a faculty member at Harvard Graduate School of Education, and was a senior associate at Programs in Professional Education developing executive training institutes for leaders.

As a researcher, trainer, and program developer who works to link theory to practice, her teaching and consulting experiences focus on leadership in multilingual and international settings, most recently in Greece, Norway and China.

She has helped lead major educational reform projects including work with the World Bank, UNESCO, the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Annenberg Research and Evaluation Team,ATLAS Communities, and Renewing Academic Excellence at the Athens College in Athens, Greece.

Her current curriculum/ assessment research projects are based in New York and in Athens, Greece. As a researcher, frequent speaker, and writer, her work focuses on

understanding how best to assess and teach children from diverse language, learning, and cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Stefanakis holds BS from Tufts University in Psychology and Child Development, an MS in Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders from Lesley University; A CAS in International Education, Administration, Planning and Social Policy and an ED.D. in Teaching Curriculum and Learning Environments from Harvard University.
