Arturo Ortiz Arturo Ortiz Born in Santurce, PR, raised in Carolina, PR. Started playing since tha age of 4… Professionally at 17, came to NY in ’83, at the age of 24. Earliest bands in PR, San Felipe ’74, Perignon, Tito Allen, Johnny El Bravo, Freddy Kenton, Conjunto Canayón. In addition to being a great pianist, Arturo also is probably the top synthesizer programmer, for Salsa acts such as Marc Anthony’s and Ruben Blades’ band tours. A sus 18 años emigra junto con su familia a Mexicali, Baja California, en busca de mejores condiciones de vida. La nostalgia de José Vaca Flores, por su tierra y sus amigos, le inspiró para componer sus primeras canciones, actividad creativa que compartió con la mecanografía en un escritorio público a las afueras de la Oficina de Correos en Baja California. A los 24 años, decide que el repertorio que había compuesto era suficiente para buscar una oportunidad en el medio, por lo que se traslada a la Ciudad de México, donde el Dueto Amanecer le graba su primera canción, Cuando se oculte el sol.
