Daily Current Affairs 11.09.2019 1- Anuraag Singhal is the first Indian-American to be nominated for this position in Florida. His confirmation hearing by the senate judiciary committee is scheduled for 11th September. If confirmed by the Senate, the Indian-American would replace James I. Cohn as the United States district judge for the southern district of Florida. 2- Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is on a three-day visit to the UAE, will participate in the 8th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER8) beginning from 10th September in Abu Dhabi. India is the co-host along with UAE at the event. 3- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal's Prime Minister K.P.Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated Motihari-Amlekhgunj cross border petroleum products pipeline through video conference on 10th September. 4- Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of Commerce Ministry will launch plastic waste management campaign under Swachhta Hi Sewa 2019 on 11th September 2019. 5- Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala launched a multilingual Mobile App “CHC Farm Machinery” during a conference on Crop Residue Management in New Delhi. It will allow farmers to avail custom hiring services of CHCs located in a radius of 50 km. 6- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia appointed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman as its new Energy minister, one of the most important positions in the government. He replaced the long-time oil industry veteran Khalid Al Falih. 7- The Indian men's hockey team was static at number five while the women's team climbed a place to number nine in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) rankings released. Australia stands at the top position while Belgium at second but the points gap between the two nations has narrowed to just two. In women's Netherlands tops the ranking following by Australia and Argentina. Indian team stands on 9th position. 8- Russian tennis player Oksana Selekhmeteva paired with Latvian player Kamilla Bartone won junior doubles trophy at US Open. The pair won over the French duo of Aubane Droguet and Selena Janicijevic. 9- The 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship is kick offed on 10th September at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. Altogether 30 teams from across India are participating in the 15- day event. Teams have been divided into eight groups. 10- Ace director Goutam Ghose's latest venture 'Raahgir' (The Wayfarers) will have its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival in October. The 24th Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 3 to 12 October 2019 at the Busan Cinema Center. A total of 303 films from 85 countries will be screened at the festival.
