Hum This thesis analized about Bipolar Disorder of Marco and Carla in Touched with Fire Movie by Paul Dalio. The purpose of this research are (1) To find out the types of Bipolar Disorder experienced by Marco and Carla in the Touched with Fire film (2) To find out the causes of Bipolar Disorder that happened in the f Touched with fire film. This thesis research uses psychological approach by Endraswara about Bipolar Disorder, and the theory of types of Bipolar Disorder by Boulvard Wilson, the cause of Bipolar Disorder by Michael Wilson Passer and Smith Ronald. The method used in analyzing the problem in this thesis is a qualitative descriptive method. The result of this study are that Marco and Carla experienced some degree of mania and also some symptoms of depression, and also mixed episode. The cause of Bipolar Disorder in the film are psychological factors and environmental factors. Marco and Carla experience periods of unusually intense emotion, changes in sleep patterns and activity levels and characteristic behavior often without recognizing their likely harmful or undesirable effects. Hum Skripsi ini membahas tentang Bipolar Disorder dari Marco dan Carla didalam film Touched with Fire karya Paul Dalio. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis Bipolar Disorder yang dialami oleh Marco dan Carla dalam film Touched with fire (2) untuk mengetahui penyebab Bipolar Disorder yang terjadi pada film Touched with fire. Penelitian skripsi ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologis Endraswara tentang Bipolar Disorder, dan teori jenis-jenis Bipolar Disorder oleh Boulvard Wilson, penyebab Bipolar Disorder oleh Michael Wilson Passer and Smith Ronald. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalsisi masalah dalam skripsi ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Marco dan Carla mengalami beberapa derajat mania serta beberapa gejala depresi, serta episode campuran. Penyebab Bipolar dalam film tersebut adalah factor psikologis dan factor lingkungan. Marco dan Carla mengalami emosi yang luar biasa intens, perubahan pola tidur dan tingkat aktivitas, serta perilaku karakteristik sering kali tanpa mengenali kemungkinan efek berbahaya atau tidak diinginkannya. All Rights Reserved Marlies ter Borg. Medical Research Archives vol 9 issue 5. May 2021 Page 2 of 18 Abstract That Aristotle connected excellence, creativity to (bipolar) melancholy is known. This article adds depth and detail by distilling from his work characteristics of hot and cold melancholy, placing them in pairs of opposites, and comparing them with the diagnostic criteria for bipolar disorder in DSM. The Greek warned against extreme mood. He named two examples of mythical persons who suffered the tragic consequences; Ajax’ suicide and Hercules’ manic destruction of his wife and children. More recent examples are Vincent van Gogh, who committed suicide and his brother Theo who attacked his wife and child, was interned and finally succumbed from the consequences of extreme mania. Aristotle urged melancholics to temper their mood. For it was only from mild melancholy that sustained creativity could be expected. He advocated hellebore as medicine. His general ethical advice to strive towards the opposite extreme is especially relevant for melancholics. Aristotle’s work on excellence and bipolar melancholy can inspire those confronted with bipolar disorder today to temper their mood. The examples of famous melancholics throughout the ages bring comfort and a sense of belonging. The author, who is stabilized on lithium, holds up the example of the van Gogh family who, lacking the effective the medicine available today, communicated openly with each other about their disorder.

The aim is to delineate how individuals cope following the diagnosis of this chronic, recurrent mental illness. Twenty participants were interviewed in depth, producing 18 hours of recordings and 480 pages of transcript. Narrative data were thematically analysed to reveal themes common to the process of adaptation. The exploratory framework identified key elements of the lived experience of bipolar disorder, including: the phenomenology of highs and lows, the role of anxiety in triggering episodes, reactions to diagnosis, and issues with prescribed medications. Analyses highlighted how difficult it is for individuals to reconcile themselves to the symptoms and consequences of the illness, and also illustrated the extent of subjective distress and reduced quality of life incurred. The psychosocial burden, particularly the difficulties developing a sense of authenticity and coherent identity, and having to adjust life goals, were examined in detail. Negative coping behaviours, specifically the use of alcohol and drugs, as well as the influence of shame and guilt on peoples’ coping repertoires were also explored. Finally, the importance of psychosocial interventions, collaborative health care strategies and necessity for long- term, follow-up care were emphasised.
