"A sensitive heart, a good eye, a skilled hand… and the best brush" With these choice words, the great German artist Anselm Feuerbach (1829-1880) defined the three virtues and requirements that all artists must possess. A LONG-STANDING TRADITION The Escoda family have been brush makers for 70 years. Our commitment is based on the conviction that the modest brush is as important to the artist as the chisel to the sculptor or the pen to the writer. We produce brushes regardless of the time it takes to do so or the cost of the materials used. We only know that this artist's tool must respond to perfection. Possibly thanks to tenacity and total dedication, this third generation of our family has successfully achieved the A family Quality Certificate UNE EN-ISO 9001/00. We are the first brush makers in Europe business to have received this prestigious recognition. This is a hard earned award as the brushes are individually made by hand, in order to achieve an excellent end-product much appreciated by professionals who consider them to be among the best brushes in the world.

7 WHERE ARE WE LOCATED The factory is located in an industrial area of Sabadell just 25 kms from Barcelona. It is 1.500 m2 and as our production requirements grow we have plans to expand the facility to 2.000 m2 in the very near future. Brushes have been manufactured here since 1949 and it is very likely that over 75,000,000 perfectly finished products have been dispatched for use in painting. Sabadell is the capital of the Vallés Occidental region and has a population of nearly 200,000. The activity of this essentially industrial centre was spearheaded by the textile industry for many years though diversification is now the order of the day, ranging from sheep's wool, metallurgy, wood, plastics, chemicals and the service industry. And paintbrushes have been produced since 1933, when the only sound heard by Sabadell's 25,000 inhabitants was the deafening sound of the textile mills and the grinding of the mule self-actors.* SABADELL * The old name for spinning jennies.

8 PRESENCE AT TRADE FAIRS Escoda Sabatés proudly manufactures all its brushes in Spain, which is why it is equally proud to attend the most important trade fairs in the sector to advertise its products. As a founding member of AIBA (Association of Fine Art Industries), Escoda Sabatés has always taken part in special exhibitions held by the association in Madrid, Seville, Santiago, Bilbao and Barcelona. The company has also been present at numerous trade fairs both nationally - Dipa, in Valencia, Grafos and Manual in Madrid - and internationally - the SMAC in Paris and for the past 14 years consecutively at Premiere-Frankfurt and NAMTA in the united states, USA.

Such a personal and economic effort has not been in vain. Today, this unique Fine Arts brush factory, the oldest in Spain, exports 30% of the brushes it produces. This is a challenging part of our business which we will continue.
