MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2016 FRENETIC SELLING AS BOOK 3 OPENS CASSE FILLY SCORES FIRST by Jessica Martini >VICTORY= IN NATALMA The Keeneland September Yearling Sale continued its pattern of brisk bidding with the first of two Book 3 sessions Sunday, as numbers continued to be up from a year ago and with more than one buyer admitting the action was so competitive it was hard to get orders filled. For the session, 269 horses sold for $23,243,000. The average was $86,405--up 17.16% from last year=s opening Book 3 session--and the median rose 27.27% to $70,000. The buy-back rate was 26.3%. It was 27.72% a year ago. AI feel like today is the strongest day of all the sales,@ said Carrie Brogden of Select Sales. AI feel like there is a lot of trade here [Sunday]. We only had five RNAs and we got three of them done afterwards. For the good horses with the good physicals who can jump through some of the hoops, there are plenty of people to buy them. It will be interesting to see what happens when the quality of the physicals starts to tail off.@ Cont. p6 Victory to Victory | Michael Burns IN TDN EUROPE TODAY One day after champion Tepin (Bernstein)=s victory in the WEEKLY WRAP FOR SEPT. 19 GI Ricoh Woodbine Mile, Live Oak Plantation homebred Victory Chris McGrath examines this past week’s European results in his to Victory (Exchange Rate) capped off a stellar weekend at Weekly Wrap, including Polish wunderkind Va Bank (Ire) Woodbine for Canadian Hall of Famer Mark Casse Sunday by (Archipenko). Adding blinkers for this AWin and You=re In@ event for that Breeders= Cup test, Victory to Victory, who was one of four Casse runners in the field, broke sharply from post 13 in this 14-horse affair and settled to track from a dual fourth as headstrong longshot Will She (Wando) ticked off sharp opening splits of :22.69 and :45.37. Ranging up about six wide turning for home, the chestnut stuck her nose in front halfway down the lane, kept on finding to put away Stormy Perfection in the final furlong and rolled clear to earn her diploma in style.
