The Missouri City Celebration Foundation (MCJCF), a 501 (c)(3) non‐profit organization, the largest of its kind in the nation, now in our tenth (10th) year, announces our weeklong line‐up of Texas‐Sized related events and activities.

The foundation’s planned events and activities are set to occur beginning 7th through the 16th with most events free and open to the general public. Thousands of attendees and participants are again expected to join in the citywide celebration of Juneteenth in Missouri City.

“Last year was our biggest and best celebration to date… we anticipate this year’s celebration will be even better,” boast’s Don Smith, MCJCF founder and current Missouri City, TX, City Councilman. “Our goal remains to bring positive attention to African –Americans while celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation.”

The VIP Kick‐Off Reception is designed to officially kick‐off our 10th year and thank our sponsors for their continuous support.

Not all of the “Juneteenth” action takes place on stage, join us for a fun and entertaining 18 holes of star‐ studded golf as we hold our Annual MCJCF “Scholarship” Golf Tournament which is open to all individuals and skill levels.

Numerous contests on the course will highlight this “FUNDRAISING” golf outing with fabulous goodie bags and a post‐event awards luncheon.

With a vast selection of athletes and celebrities to join your team’s foursome in play in addition to direct “business‐to‐business” opportunities, this highly anticipated Golfing Classic will make its mark as one of the Juneteenth Celebration Weekend’s best happening. For the past nine years, the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation (MCJCF) has endeavored to bring positive attention to African‐Americans in the Missouri City/Fort Bend area, while celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation.

One facet of our celebration is the Community Service Awards Gala. This event was initiated and established in 2006 to bring recognition to area community leaders. These leaders are citizens who exemplify conviction, purpose and enthusiasm as responsible citizens of this community. Created to fulfill the vision of the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation (MCJCF) ‐ to enhance the quality of life of Fort Bend County residents through education, historical & cultural awareness, music & entertainment and the encouragement of family values from an African American perspective. point of view A full day of events & activities are planned with the family in mind for this day in the park. The carnival open at 12 Noon with various interactive games, rides and entertainment. On the big stage, a fashion show featuring young adult fashions, a dance contest and “tween’s” musical performances with our “Streets Got Something to Say!” entertainment segment. At dusk, a featured film selected with family friendly content will be shown many specialized food vendors on hand with the munchies. The Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation “MCJCF” annually plans are to offer screenings, seminars, information, and aid to the citizens in the surrounding area.

The MCJCF’s 3rd Annual Community Health and Wellness Fair will feature some of the following participants and current supporters include: Greater Houston Black Nurses Association, Fort Bend Family Health Center, Ft. Bend County Commissioner Grady Prestage, Maximus, Stroke Scan, Inc., The Rose Breast Cancer Center, M D Anderson Cancer Unit and Drs. Eric Tait & Claudine Johnson MD. In our tenth (10th) year, the “One Mile of Smiles” Juneteenth Parade, will showcase the culture of the County’s residence and its impact on the community.

We would like for you to join with the nationally renowned Greater Fort Bend All Star Band, the Buffalo Soldiers Color Guards, the Phyllis Wheatley High School Band, the Houston Texans Cheerleaders, and various other corporate & civic groups, celebrities, dignitaries, and beautiful floats in celebration of The Emancipation Proclamation. The carnival opens at 12 Noon with the music festival beginning at 2:00pm with out “Streets Got Something to Say!” entertainment segment until 6:00 PM when the festival reverts to its more adult contemporary roots of entertainment with its “Festival Under the Stars” format featuring World Music, Gospel, Jazz, Reggae and R&B groups such as Soulfruit, Troy Barnett & Raw Energy, the Okem International Band and Andrea B & Company to mention a few.

The Festival will feature many specialized food vendors with various games and activities set to further entertain festival goers and as with most of the foundation’s planned events, it’s free to the general public as thousands of attendees and participants from across the country are expected to join in celebration of Juneteenth.
