OVERVIEW OF EVENT

EVENT HISTORY

The Foundation (PBF) held its debut event of "Brocky's Big Day Out for Charity" at the Yarra Glen Race Course in March 2002. The event was so well received and a great community success that the Peter Brock Foundation continued to run the event from 2003 to 2005 and it has become an Annual Event on the Auto Display Calendar.

The concept began with a view to holding a 'family day' in beautiful surroundings with a community atmosphere together with a Motor Sport theme and the objective of raising charity funds whilst providing a forum for other automotive and related services.

From the inaugural year with nearly 200 cars on display, in 2005 the numbers exceeded 500 Cars, display vehicles, drag boats and motor bike entrants.

Last year, the special guest of the Peter Brock Foundation was , as a mark of respect for the extraordinary competition and mutual respect shown by both Peter Brock and Allan Moffat throughout their competitive years across ’s race tracks.

Accordingly, the principal Motor Sport display and competition vehicles were:

• Peter Brock’s famous and record-breaking Torana A9X which won Bathurst in 1979 by 6 laps; easily the greatest winning margin ever. • Allan Moffat’s Coca Cola Mustang

On Centre stage we were entertained by a band and young local singers.

The Charity Auction generated much interest & raised substantial funds selling a range of Peter Brock memorabilia and donated items.

Each year, the theme of the car show changes in response to contemporary events.

The featured cars for 2006, include the 48 series built by Phil Munday and Ian Tate, and driven by Peter Brock at the renowned Goodwood Revival, symbolizes the creation and strength of motoring industry.

Another featured car is the 1980 Bathurst- winning car currently under restoration. This VC Commodore will be unveiled at Brocky’s Big Day Out and Peter will be available to meet the public and the media in the presence of these two brilliant cars.

Another featured vehicle will be the Allan Grice Commodore in unrestired form which competed in the same race, and led for some 70 laps, in 1980. This car has been modified for sports sedans and will be restored to specifications

The new home of Brocky’s Big Day Out for Charity is the charming country hamlet of Hurstbridge, the childhood town of Peter Brock.

Situated 30 kilometers from the city of , it is just outside the suburban fringe of metropolitan Melbourne.

Located at the end of the railway line, the Car show will be accessible by rail or motor vehicle.

We have invited in excess of 50 Car Clubs and numerous individuals to participate in our Show'n'Shine event. All vehicles entering shall be judged in the advertised categories.
