Jayne is a social scientist with expertise in international development, program management, anthropology and gender. Jayne's previous role was at the International Water Management Institute, Sri Lanka, where she has led, inter alia, a project mapping gender data and statistics related to water and agriculture with research teams in the Volta, Nile, Ganges and Mekong river basins. She was previously lecturer in anthropology and development studies at The University of Adelaide; qualitative evaluation co‑ordinator with the World Bank in Indonesia; program manager with the Australian Department of Health and Ageing; and has worked for extended periods with several NGOs in East Timor on gender‑based violence. Alison Dundon is an anthropologist with extensive and long‑term field research in rural Papua New Guinea and recent research online. Dundon has published on medical anthropology, particularly sexual and gendered health and HIV/AIDS; the anthropology of Christianity, and ancestral and environmental spirituality; community development; art and material culture; space, place and dance; and embodiment, sexuality and gender, including gendered and sexual violence. More recently, she has conducted research on the anthropology of online interactions, particularly online dating, love, intimacy and wellbeing in both Papua New Guinea and Australia. Dundon is also researching technological advancements in Papua New Guinea more broadly, and their impact on local communities, as well as the development of global networks between Papua New Guinea, Australia, and Israel. Judith Haines is writing a PhD thesis in anthropology. The topic of her thesis is Spiritual Ecology. She is developing her chapter in this volume as a chapter in her thesis. Judith's research interests include the relationship between humans and their environment. Judith carried out her field research in eco‑spiritual networks in and around the Adelaide environment movement. Anthony Heathcote completed his PhD in anthropology at the University of Adelaide in 2015. Based on twelve months' fieldwork in Vietnam, Anthony situated online relationships with the dead within the wider continuum of ancestor worship. Drawing on the key themes of remembering, community and emotion, he demonstrated how viii | Emotions, Senses, Spaces online memorialisation reflected ancestral practices, while also adapting them to contemporary social realities and concerns. Anthony has taught and guest lectured at several universities in Adelaide and Melbourne, and his publications feature in Australian and international curricula. He is currently working on a monograph of his research. Susan R. Hemer is a social anthropologist based at The University of Adelaide in Australia, whose work focuses on emotion and psychological wellbeing, on health, and also on the impact of development, particularly in Papua New Guinea. She regularly returns to Papua New Guinea for fieldwork. Her bookTracing the Melanesian Person: Emotions and Relationships in Lihir (2013) explores what it means to be Lihirian in a world that has rapidly changed in the last century through the work of Christian missions, government administration and the development of the Lihir gold mine. Sarah Homan is a post‑graduate candidate of anthropology and development studies at The University of Adelaide. Her honours thesis in anthropology explored the sociality of coffee culture and the ways in which consumers of fair‑trade products construct 'relationships of care' with coffee producers. She has conducted fieldwork in Nepal, focusing on the gendered subjectivities of Nepali women. Her doctoral thesis argues that urban Nepali womanhood is practised and understood through local understandings of what it means to be 'honourable'. Her research interests encompass gender, honour, shame, violence, sexualities, surveillance, tradition and modernity. In Aotearoa/New Zealand, she worked with a team under the guidance of the Alexander Turnbull Library on the Pakaitore/Moutua Gardens Oral History Project, documenting the living memories of Maori participants of the 1995 Pakaitore/Moutua Gardens land‑rights occupation in Whanganui. Valerie Liddle completed her PhD at The University of Adelaide in 2013. Her research focused on how loss is experienced by members of the Greek Pontian community in Adelaide and in Greece. She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow in the anthropology department at The University of Adelaide. Dianne Rodger is an anthropologist whose work focuses on media, popular culture and communication. Her research explores issues including the tensions between globalisation and localisation, processes of distinction and taste‑making and the culturally specific and contested nature of 'authenticity'. She is particularly interested in the production and consumption of music and the use of new information and communication technologies in a number of domains, including health promotion. Dianne completed her PhD on Hip Hop culture in Australia in 2012. Her thesis is entitled 'Living Hip Hop: Defining authenticity in the Adelaide and Melbourne Hip Hop scenes'. Emotions, Senses, Spaces | ix William Skinner is a PhD graduate in anthropology from The University of Adelaide. His thesis, entitled 'Fermenting place: Wine production and terroir in McLaren Vale, South Australia', explores the ways local producers experience, understand and represent place and landscape in the near‑urban context of McLaren Vale. Based on extensive ethnographic fieldwork in the region, the thesis argues that the 'terroir perspective' taken by producers in the Vale is informed both by direct phenomenological engagement with the land and by broader, globalised wine discourse. William's present research interests relate to conceptualisations of vineyard heritage and relationships between city and country in South Australia. He enjoys playing soccer, surfing, and playing guitar. For the past couple of years he has also tried making his own wine, with questionable success. Kirrilly Thompson is an Associate Professor at CQUni's Appleton Institute. She uses ethnographic methods to research the cultural dimensions of human‑animal relations, with
