The club again fulfilled its mission to provide opportunities for our players to play at any level of cricket he or she is capable of. At the highest levels, Dolphins prominantly featured in Queensland (youth, men and women) and Australian teams (‘A’, youth and women). Congratulations to Michael Neser on his selection for Australia ‘A’ and to Delissa Kimmince on her continued selection in the Southern Stars. Delissa also topped a stellar year by being awarded her second consecutive Kath Smith Medal at the Queensland Grade Cricket Awards night. Individual achievement was also shared with team success – well done to the Lord’s Taverners on again featuring prominantly on the premiership ladder, the 3rds for battling strongly all year to be just pipped at the post from making the semi finals and to our oustanding Women (both teams) on their minor premierships. Pleasingly, the Dolphins’ ethos of ‘playing hard, playing well, but playing fair’ was recognised by Queensland Cricket with our 1st Grade Men and Women’s teams winning their respective Spririt of Cricket Awards. 25th Anniversary Dinner With Season 2014/15 being the Dolphins 25th year, there was no more fitting way than to celebrate with a huge anniversary dinner on the Australia Day weekend. A host of current and former Dolphins players and supporters gathered at the Robina Community Centre to reconnect and relive many a tale of years past. The club was fortunate to secure one of Australia’s feature sports writers – Robert Craddock to be the guest speaker. The night also saw the first inductees into the Dolphins Hall of Fame. Thanks must go to Martin Rogers for his work in producing the 25 Year Booklet, and to Tony Matthews and Tony Radanovic, who with Martin helped put together the event. Bill Pippen Oval After last year’s loss of the Dolphins’ inaugural President and Life Member – Bill Pippen, it was special for the club was able to appopriately recognise him with the renaming of the ground in his honour. Bill was a key driver in a small committee of like-minded cricket lovers that worked together to form the Dolphins and gain entry for them into the Brisbane Grade Competition. Perhaps fittingly, it was also Bill who was instrumental in securing Kerrydale for cricket from the Albert Shire Council in the early 1990’s. International Cricket In a first for Gold Coast cricket, the Dolphins this year hosted a series of international matches featuring teams from Australia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea and Ireland. The Australian women’s team, the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars, took on Pakistan in a four match series at Kerrydale, then a South Australian XI went up against Papua New Guinea and finally, the Dolphins hosted Ireland’s national cricket team as part of its 2015 Cricket World Cup preparations. The Irish held a three day camp at Kerrydale prior to playing the Queensland Bulls in a 50 over match. Thank you To our primary sponsors – Scoot Airlines, Salmon Earthmoving and Robina Home Hardware – thank you for your support and ongoing involvement with our club. To our members, please be sure to support our sponsors where you can and be sure to tell them you are a Dolphin! The Club has been well served again this year by our Club Patron, Ros Bates MP, and local Gold Coast City councillor Jan Grew. We greatly appreciate their ongoing support. Also a special thank you to our Queensland Cricket Delegate – Rory 10 Gold Coast District Cricket Club Annual Report – Season 2014/15 Solomon, and Cricket Gold Coast Directors—Archie Morris, Tony Radanovic and Greg Kaddatz. I must also thank the efforts of the coaching staff who were ably led this year by Senior Coach Damian Wallis and Women’s Coach Garry Lovett. Thanks also to our groundsman Rick Shenton for ensuring we play on one of the best wickets in the State. I would also like to thank the Management Committee members that worked hard to keep the club where it is throughout the year – Alan McGillivray (Vice President), Gerry Stevens (Secretary), Simon Matthews (Treasurer), Cameron Brimblecombe, Tony Radanovic, Greg Kaddatz, Jason Hocking and Scott Black.

Support for the Young and Disadvantaged We were pleased in this financial year to be able to disburse $38,107 to deserving causes which support our aim of giving the young and disadvantaged a sporting chance. As in past years, this included “Spirit of Cricket” awards for Cricket ACT’s competition; Junior Taverners Awards to the value of $1500 each, plus a Kookaburra cricket kit to two promising young cricketers from the region – Clare Levings and Ethan Fitzpatrick; funding for Cricket ACT’s program for the development of cricket for girls; a contribution to the National Cricket Inclusion Championships, which are played among all-ability teams annually; and a contribution to Sunrise Rotary’s Dream Cricket Gala Day, which enables young people with disabilities to play cricket. This year we also provided tickets to enable a group of 70 indigenous children from the Clontarf Foundation to attend an international match at Manuka Oval and funding to enable Variety Every Chance to Play to meet club fees for economically disadvantaged young cricketers. In response to the extraordinary conditions faced last summer, we provided $2500 to help five cricket clubs in drought-stricken rural areas of NSW keep going through the season and $1650 for Cricket ACT’s fundraiser for bushfire-affected clubs. As well, for the 13th successive year, the Lord’s Taverners ACT Disabilities Scholarship scheme provided scholarships and grants to the value of $8500 to 13 young athletes.
