INTRODUCTION The 8th Scandinavian Symposium on Chemometrics (SSC8) will be held in the Assembly Hall in the Self-Government Building, Mariehamn, Åland, June 14-18, 2003. The Symposium will cover different branches of chemistry where chemometrics is applied and contributing significantly to scientific or technical progress. The meeting brings together researchers in the field of chemometrics. It will provide excellent opportunities for extended discussions and exchange of views regarding the application of chemometrics. SSC8 will include all aspects of chemometrics, but will emphasize on applications in the following topics: ■ Drug related design and QSAR ■ Food research and sensometrics ■ Process applications and ■ Organic synthesis and medicinal analytical chemistry chemistry ■ Metabonomics, proteomics and ■ Environmental monitoring bioinformatics ■ New applications in chemometrics
