Le Forum d’Vinyl Extra VIII www.dacapo-records.de € Le Forum d’Vinyl 2,00 d’Vinyl Le Forum Highlight des Monats OST / Cat Stevens - Harold And Maude (180 g + 7“) Er ist einer dieser Kultfi lme, die in den 70er Jahren in den Kinos zu sehen waren: „Harold And Maude“! Nach einer Romanvorlage von Colin Higgins entstand unter der Regie von Hal Ashby ein rührender Film über den Teenager Harold und seiner Beziehung zu der 79-jährigen Maude. Die Geschichte ist ein Film voller schwarzem Humor, typisch britisch und doch auch mit beißender Kritik an den etablierten Gesellschaftswerten. Die Musik dazu stammte von keinem geringeren als Cat Stevens, doch obwohl sie populär war und nach wie vor ist, gab es doch nie eine Platte von diesem Soundtrack. Das wurde nun nachgeholt, nach rund 37 Jahren! Es ist aber nicht einfach nur eine Platte mit ein paar netten Songs, es ist ein Gesamtkunstwerk! Die Aufmachung ist allemal etwas Besonderes: Das dicke Klappcover beherbergt neben der sauber gepressten 180 g-LP in gefütterter Innenhülle eine Bonussingle mit der unveröffentlichten Demoversion von Cat Stevens „Don‘t Be Shy“ und einer Alternativversion von „If You Want To Sing Out, - vocals, guitar, keyboards, producer Sing Out“ und zusätzlich noch eine Pergamenthülle. Darin verbirgt sich das Alun Davies - guitar opulente 36-seitige Booklet mit tollen Bildern zum Film und vielen Linernotes John Ryan - bass sowie zwei (!!) Poster. Harvey Burns - drums Grandiose Songs wie „Where Do the Children Play?“, „Trouble“ oder „On The Road To Find Out“ wurden von Cat Stevens ausgewählt, sie stammten aus Paul Samwell-Smith - producer den Erfolgsalben „Mona Bone Jakon“ und „Tea For The Tillerman“, andere wurden eigens für diesen Film von ihm komponiert (und später teilweise Label: Vinyl Films auf der Compilation „Footsteps In The Dark“ veröffentlicht). Zu hören sind aber auch die wunderbare Banjo-Version und eine nicht minder schöne Instrumentalfassung von „If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out“, wie auch eine Alternativversion von „Don‘t Be Shy“, allesamt bislang unveröffentlicht! Wer den Film gesehen hat, wird sich bei dieser herrlichen Musik an die Backkatalog: Bilder erinnern, die „Harold And Maude“ zahlreiche Preise der Filmwelt bescherte. An die überragende Ruth Gordon (Maude) und Bud Cort, der Cat Stevens 546885 für seine Rolle des Harold 1973 mit dem französischen „Toile de Cristal“ - Teaser And The Firecat (180 g) als bester ausländischer Darsteller geehrt wurde. Cat Stevens 842351 Yusuf, wie sich Cat Stevens heute nennt, sagte über „Harold And Maude“: - Mona Bone Jakon (180g) „Eine Seltenheit. Ein Film, der immer besser wird, je älter er wird“.
