Tiran Porter Bass Transcriptions Doobie Brothers - the Hits Tiran Porter Bass Transcriptions Doobie Brothers - The Hits Transcribed by Eric Beaulé Introduction Tiran Porter bass playing and feel is an integral and driving part of The Doobie Brothers distinctive sound. Porter held the bass duties with the Doobie's from 1971 to 1980 and reunited again for 2 studio albums and tours between 1987 and 1992. Becoming increasingly tired of the road life, he quit the band for good in 1992. Starting out as a guitarist and being influenced by Paul McCartney, Tiran favored playing bass with a pick over finger style plucking. However after leaving the band in 1980 he said he switched to playing finger style and never went back to playing with a pick. He has been playing a variety of basses during his career with the Doobie Brothers. Rickenbacker 4001, Alembic, BC Rich Eagles and Gibson basses (Thunderbird, Ripper and EB-3L), are just a few of the basses he used. Porter Also played Fender instruments, most notably a P-Bass from '67 or '68. Check out Tiran's distinctive tone and phrasing on the classic songs transcribed in this eBook. This 10 song collection is spanning seven albums from the 1972 'Toulouse Street' through the 1978 'Minute by Minute' album. It will certainly give you a taste of his stylistic approach. I hope you’ll enjoy the transcriptions and happy shedding! © 2017 www.PlayBassLines.com Table of Contents Albums Song Titles Toulouse Street Listen to the Music 3 Toulouse Street Jesus is just Alright 8 Toulouse Street Rockin' Down the Highway 14 The Captain and Me Long Train Runnin' 18 The Captain and Me China Grove 23 What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits Black Water 28 Stampede Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me) 31 Takin' It to the Streets Takin' It to the Streets 37 Takin' It to the Streets It Keeps You Runnin' 41 Minute by Minute What a Fool Believes 47 © 2017 www.PlayBassLines.com.

These labels are designed to print on the NEATO 180955 pre-perforated cd labels & card stock! They include appoximately 1/4 inch extra “bleed” around the perforations, in order to account for small differences in printers and software issues. If you print these labels on PLAIN PAPER, you will need to trim the extra bleed area away or they will not fit. Additionally, you should print these with Adobe Acrobat 7 (older versions may not produce the correct results), and you MUST make sure that the PAGE SCALING option is set to “NONE”. If you have PAGE SCALING set to “Fit To Printer Margins” or “Reduce to Printer Margins”, the graphics will not print at the correct size for the standard jewel case. This is the most common problem people have when they complain about the artwork not fitting the jewel case!
