N K A -S outh W£t>fc ^ \ - z o Environmental Protection Internal Report TRAINING GUIDANCE NOTES CONTROL OF POLLUTION FARM WASTE REGULATIONS October 1992 PC/W/l/92/002 Author: S B Newport Pollution Inspector NRA C.V.M. Dovies National Rivers Authority Environmental Protection Manager South West Region AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CONTROL OF POLLUTION REGULATIONS GUIDANCE NOTES ENVIRONMENT AGENCY FARM WASTE STORAGE AND DISPOSAL CONTROL OF POLLUTION (SILAGE, SLURRY AND AGRICULTURAL FUEL OIL) REGULATIONS 1991 The Control of Pollution (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) Regulations 1991 came into force on 1 September 1991. The regulations require persons with custody or control of a crop being made into silage, livestock slurry or certain fuel oil to carry out works and take precautions and other steps for preventing pollution of waters which are controlled waters for the purposes of Part III of the Water Act 1989. The regulations provide exemptions from their requirements and for the loss of those exemptions in certain circumstances. They also confer a right for appeal to the Secretary of State and provide that contravention of certain regulations is a criminal offence. The regulations are no longer new to the field staff of the National Rivers Authority. The aim of following notes and the contents supplied in this document will help field staff to draw a common approach to the use of the regulations across the South West Region. The regulations dictate that any person with custody of livestock slurry should provide a minimum of four months continuous storage unless they can demonstrate that a reduced storage capacity is sufficient without posing a risk to controlled waters.

  • Cadia History 3
THE MAKING OF CADIA MINE, SMELTER AND VILLAGE Part 3 – Further Cadia Family Histories © John L. Symonds, Cronulla NSW Webmaster, Cornish Association of NSW Final 31/01/04 1. Introduction In the preparation of Cadia History Part 2, there are mentions of extensions of the Blood and Holman families which needed to be treated separately in the first instance. This situation also applied to the Webb and Faull families. Part 3 will cover those family extensions. There are also other families for whom the author has gathered information in contact with descendants. Some of these contacts developed from the availability of a copy of a Petition seeking to have a post office established at Cadia. The Petition was sent to the Post Master General in Sydney in 1868, with a long list of signatures of people who lived at or near Cadia. Some information from direct contact with descendants has been gleaned on each of the families of surnames Bargwanna, Gill, Grinsted, Johns, Kerr, Northey, particularly when there was evidence of their residence in or near Cadia. 2. Northey/Trenberth/Evans Family History In September 2001, the author received an email from Ann Manley of Narraweena NSW drawing attention the an error in the name of her 3xGGM in the register of burials, listed at the site of the new Cadia Garden of Remembrance Cemetery on the day of its opening. The incorrect listing stated that Patricia Evans died on 16 August 1879, aged 60 years and was buried at the Cadia Cemetery. The correct name was Peternell Evans. In a subsequent exchange of emails, Ann Manley provided transcripts of marriage and death certificates for Robert Northey and Peternell Whitford Trenberth who were married in Cornwall, and died at Cadia.

  • Cadia History 4
THE MAKING OF CADIA MINE, SMELTER AND VILLAGE Part 4 – A Cadia Family History Extension - Northey © John L. Symonds, Cronulla NSW Webmaster, Cornish Association of NSW Final 3/02/04 1. Introduction The family history provided in Section 2 below stemmed from further contact between the author and Ann Manley in early 2003, after he had asked if it was possible to extend what is given in Cadia History 3, Section 2. In this extended version of the Northey family history, there are connections between families who lived at or near Cadia in the 1860 period and onwards that had not been provided by anyone else before. Her extended contribution is gratefully acknowledged. 2. Family of Robert Northey and Peternell Whitford Trenberth Researched by 3XG Granddaughter Ann Fiona Manley (at 1 February 2004): Ann Fiona Manley, 32A Rayner Avenue, Narraweena. NSW. 2099. ___________________________________________________________ I have attempted to present the following family history in a time line, based on known records. I have also tried to adhere to the original spellings as contained in the documents referred to. This document has a primary emphasis on Cadia, where both Robert and Peternell were buried – and subsequently exhumed in the 1997/98 and reburied in a new Garden of Remembrance (after an extensive archaeological dig due to the recommencement of mining at Cadia). 2.1 Cornwall, England Robert Northey, bachelor, miner, married Peternel Whitford Trenberth, spinster, tailor, on 24 November 1838 at Gwennap, Cornwall; both listed as minors and residents of Carharrack. Both sign with their mark. His father Robert Northey, miner; her father William Trenberth, ‘miner dec.?’.
