2. What are the roles of arteries, veins, and capillaries?

Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart (exception pulmonary artery)

Veins carry deoxygenated blood to the heart (exception pulmonary vein)

Capillaries are tiny vessels that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to be exchanged between the rbc's and tissues, and link arteries and veins together

3. Why do we say the heart is a two pump system? What are the "pumps"? Half of the heart pumps blood to the lungs (pulmonary system), and the other half pumps blood to the body (systemic system).

The two pumps are the ventricles. They are responsible for the actual pumping of blood, while the atrium act as a reservoir holding blood till the ventricle is ready.
