CHANGE OF DATE A er consul ng with the leadership of our parish rummage sale and the parish picnic, we are moving the parish picnic to Sunday, June 23. The picnic will begin at Noon or immediately a er the 11:00am Mass. We all agree that having the picnic on campus on a Sunday will be a terrific way for parishioners to spend me socializing while enjoying some good food. Fun ac vi es for children will also be part of the a ernoon, so I encourage our families to plan on joining us on June 23. Watch the bulle n for more
informa on in the coming weeks.
TOTUS TUUS St. Raphael will be collabora ng with our neighbors at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish (St. Peter and St. Bede) in offering a one-week program this summer for youth. "Totus Tuus" ("All yours"- the mo o of Pope John Paul II) is the name of the program and it has been well received in different parishes of the archdiocese for several years. St. Raphael will host the program for 7-12th grades on our campus from Sunday July 21 through Thursday July 25. The program will be held in the evenings (the program for younger children will be at the St. Peter campus in An och during the day). While there will be a team of young adults leading the program, I could use the assistance of a couple of adults from our parish to help prepare for this event. If you can help, or have ques ons, please let me know. Thank you.
THE REAL PRESENCE OF JESUS IN THE HOLY EUCHARIST We have had a good response in viewing a series of talks on DVD by Bishop Robert Barron concerning the Holy Eucharist. This coming week we will view and discuss two more videos by Bishop Barron about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Please join us Tuesday, May 7, at 7:00pm or Wednesday, May 8, at 9:15 am for this one-hour presenta on. Both gatherings will be in the Fellowship Hall on the lower level of the church.
CHRISTIAN ART BY EL GRECO Last summer I heard a presenta on by art historian Kathleen Long featuring the art of Domenikos Theotokopoulos, more widely known as "El Greco" (1541-1614). His pain ngs o en depict events in the life of Christ or the saints. The Art Ins tute of Chicago will be hos ng a major exhibit of his works in the coming year. Please join me in welcoming Kathleen to St. Raphael for her presenta on, complete with amazing images of art. We will meet on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. All are invited.
SILVER ANNIVERSARY On Sunday May 19, I will offer the 11:00am Mass here at St. Raphael. At that liturgy, I ask you to join me in giving thanks to God for the 25 years I have been a Catholic priest. Members of my family will join us, as well as parishioners from previous parishes where I have served, along with priest friends. There will be a light recep on a erward. I would ask that if you are planning to a end, can you please fill out the small form below and place it in the collec on or return it to the parish office (via an usher or me). Everyone is most welcome to a end; we would like to have some sense of the number of people a ending the recep on so we can plan for refreshments. Thank you.
A Blessed Easter! Name:
