ABSTRACT Onocleopsis hintonii is reported for the first time for the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, adding the Onocleaceae Pic. Serm. family record. Data on their morphology and characteristics of their spores are presented. Key words: Hidalgo, Mexico, new record, Onocleaceae, Onocleopsis. Dentro del proyecto de tesis de maestría del primer autor, en el Municipio de Molango de Escamilla y sus alrededores, se hizo trabajo de campo de febrero del 2009 a marzo del 2010, realizando 12 excursiones a la Sierra Hidalguense, en la localidad de Río Malila, en donde se recolectó material biológico, en particular pteridofitas. En una exploración dentro del bosque, se encontró creciendo entre las rocas y a lo largo de un arroyo, una población de helechos con hojas dimórficas, que 31 Acta Botanica Mexicana 102: 31-37 (2013) resultó corresponder a Onocleopsis hintonii F. Ballard. Después de hacer una revi- sión bibliográfica y consultar los herbarios ENCB, FCME, MEXU y UAMIZ, no se hallaron registros de esta especie para el estado de Hidalgo. -

Much of its current North American and European distribution was covered in ice or uninhabitable tundra during the Pleistocene. Here we use DNA sequences and AFLP data to investigate the genetic variation of the fiddlehead fern at two geographic scales to infer the historical biogeography of the species. Matteuccia struthiopteris segregates globally into minimally divergent (0.3%) Eurasian and American lineages. -

It is suggested that Osmunda intermedia is an intrasub- generic hybrid (O. japonica of subgenus Osmunda ϫ O. lancea of subgenus Osmunda), O. ruggii is an intersubgeneric hybrid (O. regalis of subgenus Osmunda ϫ O. claytoniana of subgenus Clay- tosmunda), O. nipponica is an intersubgeneric hybrid (O. japonica ϫ O. claytoniana of subgenus Claytosmunda), and O. midlei is an intersubgeneric hybrid (O. japonica ϫ O. angustifolia or O. vachellii of subgenus Plenasium). Among the four, O. intermedia is the most widely distributed and can reproduce in culture, suggesting that it can reproduce to some extent in nature. Epilist 1.0: a Global Checklist of Vascular Epiphytes

However, to date, there is no comprehensive list of vas- cular epiphyte species. Here, we present EpiList 1.0, the first global list of vascular epiphytes based on standardized definitions and taxonomy. We include obligate epiphytes, facultative epiphytes, and hemiepiphytes, as the latter share the vulnerable epiphytic stage as juveniles. Based on 978 references, the checklist includes >31,000 species of 79 plant families. Species names were standardized against World Flora Online for seed plants and against the World Ferns database for lycophytes and ferns. In cases of species missing from these databases, we used other databases (mostly World Checklist of Selected Plant Families). For all species, author names and IDs for World Flora Online entries are provided to facilitate the alignment with other plant databases, and to avoid ambiguities. EpiList 1.0 will be a rich source for synthetic studies in ecology, biogeography, and evolutionary biology as it offers, for the first time, a species‐level overview over all currently known vascular epiphytes. At the same time, the list represents work in progress: species descriptions of epiphytic taxa are ongoing and published life form information in floristic inventories and trait and distribution databases is often incomplete and sometimes evenwrong. -

PREFACE All doors were opened to start this travel, beginning for the many magical pristine forest of Ecuador, Sierra de Juárez Oaxaca and los Tuxtlas in Veracruz, some of the most biodiverse zones in the planet, were I had the honor to put my feet, contemplate their beauty and perfection and work in their mystical forest. It was a dream into reality! The collaboration with the German counterpart started at the beginning of my academic career and I never imagine that this will be continued to bring this research that summarizes the efforts of many researchers that worked hardly in the overwhelming and incredible biodiverse tropics. -

16 Fern classification ALAN R. SMITH, KATHLEEN M. PRYER, ERIC SCHUETTPELZ, PETRA KORALL, HARALD SCHNEIDER, AND PAUL G. WOLF 16.1 Introduction and historical summary / Over the past 70 years, many fern classifications, nearly all based on morphology, most explicitly or implicitly phylogenetic, have been proposed. The most complete and commonly used classifications, some intended primar• ily as herbarium (filing) schemes, are summarized in Table 16.1, and include: Christensen (1938), Copeland (1947), Holttum (1947, 1949), Nayar (1970), Bierhorst (1971), Crabbe et al. (1975), Pichi Sermolli (1977), Ching (1978), Tryon and Tryon (1982), Kramer (in Kubitzki, 1990), Hennipman (1996), and Stevenson and Loconte (1996). Other classifications or trees implying relationships, some with a regional focus, include Bower (1926), Ching (1940), Dickason (1946), Wagner (1969), Tagawa and Iwatsuki (1972), Holttum (1973), and Mickel (1974). Tryon (1952) and Pichi Sermolli (1973) reviewed and reproduced many of these and still earlier classifica• tions, and Pichi Sermolli (1970, 1981, 1982, 1986) also summarized information on family names of ferns. Smith (1996) provided a summary and discussion of recent classifications. With the advent of cladistic methods and molecular sequencing techniques, there has been an increased interest in classifications reflecting evolutionary relationships. Phylogenetic studies robustly support a basal dichotomy within vascular plants, separating the lycophytes (less than 1 % of extant vascular plants) from the euphyllophytes (Figure 16.l; Raubeson and Jansen, 1992, Kenrick and Crane, 1997; Pryer et al., 2001a, 2004a, 2004b; Qiu et al., 2006). ChinaXiv合作期刊 DOI:10.11931/guihaia.gxzw201908045 粤紫萁离体再生技术研究 陈朋,杨蕾蕾,彭杨,张苏州,徐桂红,杨建芬,张寿洲* (深圳市中国科学院仙湖植物园,广东 深圳 518004) 摘要:粤紫萁(Osmunda mildei)为新近形成的自然杂交种,分布区狭窄,种群个体数量少,有性繁殖 能力极低。本研究以孢子为外植体, MS、3/4MS、1/2MS 和 1/4MS 为基本培养基,探究不同生长 调节剂对粤紫萁孢子萌发、原叶体增殖和孢子体形成的影响。结果表明:粤紫萁孢子中极少的可育 孢子在植物生长调节剂的作用下,能够萌发并发育形成原叶体;原叶体生长及增殖的最适组合为 1/2MS +1 mg·L-1 6-BA+NAA 0.05 mg·L-1 和 1/2MS +1 mg·L-1 6-BA+IBA 0.5mg·L-1;在 1/4MS 基本培 养基中,原叶体增殖的同时,生长发育完善,形成正常的幼孢子体,形成率达 83.49%;孢子体最佳 生根配方为 MS+IBA 0.5 mg·L-1;组培苗在河沙:黄土:腐殖质=1:1:3 的栽培基质中成活率达 98%以上, 且生长旺盛。本研究对粤紫萁的人工繁育及其资源保护具重要意义,同时也可为其他濒危蕨类植物 的人工保育提供参考。 关键词:粤紫萁,孢子,原叶体,孢子体,杂交种 中图分类号:Q813.1 文献标识码:A In vitro regeneration of Osmunda mildei CHEN Peng, YANG Leilei, PENG Yang, ZHANG Suzhou, XU Guihong, YANG Jianfen, ZHANG Shouzhou* (Fairylake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen & Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen 518004, Guangdong, China) Abstract: Osmunda mildea is a recently formed natural hybrid species with a narrow distribution area. The number of the population is very small, and it’s sexual reproduction is extremely low. Using spores as explants, we investigated the effects of basic media (MS, 3/4 MS, 1/2 MS and 1/4 MS) and different plant growth regulators (PGRs) onspores germination, prothallium proliferation and sporophyte formation.
