Originally from New York, Maxwell Levy, tenor, is an interpreter of the operatic, song, crossover and musical theater repertoire. In his second summer as a Young Artist at The Glimmerglass Festival, his 2019 highlights include Hermann in The Queen of Spades directed by Francesca Zambello and the Opera Box Ghost in Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles directed by Jay Lesenger and conducted by Joseph Colaneri. He will reprise his role in The Ghosts of Versailles at the Royal Opera at the Château de Versailles in Versailles, France in December 2019. For the 2019/2020 season he joins the Royal Academy Opera Studio at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he will perform the roles of Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Ricardo in Massenet’s Chérubin, both conducted by program director Gareth Hancock. He previously spent two seasons with Opera Philadelphia, performing in the company’s productions of Turandot, Tancredi, Die Zauberflöte and Carmen. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in Philosphy, Politics and Economics, Maxwell spent the 2018/2019 season in the Masters program at the Juilliard School in the studio of Marlena Malas. He currently resides in London, England and New York, NY. Maxwell is a member of Actors Equity Association (AEA/Equity) and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
