The Viper Room Launches “Five (Or More) Questions with Tommy Black” Podcast FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE VIPER ROOM LAUNCHES “FIVE (OR MORE) QUESTIONS WITH TOMMY BLACK” PODCAST LOS ANGELES, CA. (July 23, 2019) – The Viper Room announced the launch of its podcast, “Five (or More) Questions with Tommy Black” featuring intimate interviews with some of rock and young Hollywood’s hottest talent, including Todd Ogren (Rival Sons), Jeff Schroeder (Smashing Pumpkins), Chris Wyse (Hollywood Vampires), and Rob Raco (The CW’s “Riverdale”), to name a few. Viper Room’s General Manager, Tommy Black (Double Cobra, Palo Alto, Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts), originally started the series in April 2018 as a blog feature and a casual interview with T.S.O.L. Using his personal connections from more than 18 years with the Viper Room, Black’s interview style is personable, comfortable and humorous, often getting the musicians to share never-before-heard stories about the Viper Room or, for example, what it’s like to be on the road with Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, The Cult, and more. “The idea for the podcast came about organically,” said Black. “I started recording interviews with the artists to promote shows and we put them up on the Viper Room blog. It’s grown from there and we decided to make it a true podcast. It’s been fun to share stories from the bands and Viper Room.” Since its opening in 1993, the world-famous Viper Room (also known as Johnny Depp’s joint) has hosted the likes of Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Queens of The Stone Age, Courtney Love, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, Pete Yorn, Lenny Kravitz, Pearl Jam, The Strokes, Weezer, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Iggy Pop and Sheryl Crow, as well as an array of other internationally established artists and the cult favorites of America's underground. This intimate nightclub, situated in the heart of the world-famous Sunset Strip, is styled in the fashion of Harlem's great jazz clubs of the 1920's. “Five (or more) Questions with Tommy Black” is produced by Tommy Black and Prickly Pear Marketing; and available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, TuneIn and YouTube. New episodes are released every Monday. About Viper Room The Viper Room is a 21 and over music club located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California originally opened in 1993 by actor Johnny Depp. The club quickly became and remains a favorite hangout for Hollywood’s hottest young actors and musicians. Lead singer, guitarist, and figurehead Jeffrey Lee Pierce fits in easily with Tthe genius songwriting of Arthur Lee (Love), Chris Hillman (Byrds), and John Doe and Exene (X). Unfortunately, neither he nor his band achieved the notoriety of his fellow luminary Angelinos. From 1979 to 1996, Jeffrey manned the Gun Club ship through thick and mostly thin. Understandably, the initial Fire of Love and Miami lineup of Ward Dotson (guitar), Rob Ritter (bass), Jeffrey Lee Pierce (vocals/ guitar) and Terry Graham (drums) remains the most beloved; setting the spooky, blues-punk template for future Gun Club releases. At the time of its release, Fire of Love was heralded by East Coast critics as one of the best albums of 1981.

  • West Hollywood, California's Go-To-Guide to the City's Three
West Hollywood, California’s go-to-guide to the City’s Three Districts The Sunset Strip After decades of notoriety, the Sunset Strip continues to blaze its own path as a world-famous cultural landmark, setting trends in music, hotels, dining and shopping. This most famous stretch of Sunset Boulevard begins and ends in West Hollywood, and like the city it calls home, it is constantly breaking new ground and reinventing itself. Though it’s often been portrayed in movies like Sunset Boulevard, Almost Famous and Rock of Ages, visitors say that nothing compares to seeing the Sunset Strip up close and in person. Bordered on the west by Beverly Hills and on the east by Hollywood, this iconic 1.5 mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard features an array of world-class hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, shops and spas. Through the years, the Sunset Strip has seen it all, starting with the seedy glitz of the 1920s, when Prohibition fueled the rise of nightclubs and speakeasies. Because West Hollywood was not yet an incorporated city, this strip of Sunset Boulevard was lightly policed, making the Strip the perfect playground for the rebellious denizens of early Hollywood. By the 1940s, swanky nightclubs like Ciro’s, Trocadero and Mocambo reigned supreme, attracting A-list celebrity clientele like Marilyn Monroe along with less savory characters like gangster Bugsy Siegel, who called the Strip his stomping grounds. In the 1960s, the Sunset Strip became the major gathering place for the counterculture movement in Los Angeles. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison were fixtures of the Strip and the surrounding West Hollywood landscape.
