Loughton Conservation Area Review February 2014 Foreword 35 years have passed since the Loughton conservation area was established but during that time (and despite considerable changes to the area) the character statement which identifies the special interest of the area has never been reviewed or updated. There is much about the old village of Loughton in Milton Keynes which has been successfully preserved and this creates a place which is of unique character and interest which is much loved by residents. There is a strong local feeling that residents want to see these characteristics preserved and sympathetically incorporated within any future and sustainable development of the area. Loughton Parish Council has been pushing for a review of the conservation areas statement for some time now; but it has eventually become clear that to make this happen, the Parish Council has to take the initiative and commission the work itself. Milton Keynes Council are the planning authority for this area, and after the consultation exercise and any revisions resulting from it, the Parish Council will be applying to them to adopt this document as the new conservation area review. I sincerely hope they will adopt the statement and apply it to future planning applications within the area. I am grateful to MK Council Conservation and Archaeology for their assistance and co-operation, and for engaging with us in the preparation of this statement. I am also grateful to local residents and other local stakeholders such as the Parks Trust for engaging with us in this project. I would like to particularly thank Peter Howard for his commitment and expertise in authoring this review.

The consultation ran for eight weeks between 14 September 2015 and 9 November 2015. The Public Safety Plan (PSP) 2015-20 set out the strategic approach the Fire Authority will be taking to deliver the fire and rescue service. This included a commitment to deliver five area reviews that would look at a range of things including: “the right number and location of fire stations which may involve moving, merging, closing or co-locating with other blue light services” This consultation was part of a continuing dialogue with the public, which began with the ‘listening and engagement’ research (November/December 2013) which we did with the public prior to embarking on the development of the 2015-20 PSP, followed by the full PSP consultation which ran for 12 weeks (22 July–13 October 2014) with findings reported to the 17 December 2014 CFA meeting. The purpose of this report is to: - Present to the Authority the results of the public and staff consultations into this merger; - Make recommendations based on the responses we received from across the different methods of consulting.

At this time of year, we say goodbye to a number of staff; three staff in particular should be mentioned: Lin Robinson – English Teacher at the Olney campus; Lin who was in charge of English at Olney, and then moved into a new role of Training Teachers, is retiring this summer. She has worked at Ousedale for 13 years. Doug Abrams – Head of Computing and IT, who has led the department for the last 14 years, and throughout his time at Ousedale helped with the technical side of productions, has taken up a new post at the Webber School after 14 years. Finally, Dave Hurley, who has worked at Ousedale for a staggering 31 years; his dedication to PE teaching and extra-curricular PE in particular will be very hard to replace. Dave is retiring from teaching. We wish all three the very best for the future. As you look through this edition I am reminded of our vision statement ‘to enhance and develop our exceptional learning community for all students’. I feel this focus on enriching lives combined with great teaching and exam preparation is what makes Ousedale special; I hope you feel we have made the vision a reality. We look forward to the summer exams results. Milton Keynes Open Space Assessment Milton Keynes Open Space Assessment 2017 A Open Space Assessment to inform Plan:MK Final Report Milton Keynes Council Civic Offices Milton Keynes MK9 3EJ March 2018 ii Executive Summary Throughout 2016 – 2017 Milton Keynes Council undertook a detailed Open Space Assessment with the intent to reflect the changes to national planning policy and proposed population growth. The findings of this study have informed the Council’s new Local Plan. Plan:MK is the new local plan currently being prepared by the Council. Part of the process is to gather a full evidence base for all services and provision across a wide range of opportunities and constraints within the Milton Keynes policy area. The Open Space Assessment forms an essential component of the emerging plan. Milton Keynes Council has a long tradition of enhancing and providing a network of open space for its residents and visitors. Changes effected by Order of the Secretary of State under section 37A of the representation of the Peoples Act 1983 There is one Order made by the Secretary of State, which made changes to the timing of local council elections. The Local Elections (Ordinary Day of Elections in 2014) Order 2013 No.2277 This Order changes the date of local elections in England in 2014, so that it is the same date of the European Parliamentary elections in that year, and deals with a number of incidental, supplementary and consequential matters. The Order was made on 6 September 2013. 2. Changes effected by regulations of the Secretary of State under sections 10,11,12,13 and 15 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 There are two Orders made by the Secretary of State, which made changes to the boundary between two district councils. The East Hertfordshire and Stevenage (Boundary Change) Order 2013 No.596 This Order made a change to the boundary between the district of East Hertfordshire and the Borough of Stevenage and consequential changes to corresponding parish boundaries.
