This coincided with 2 changes – the removal of the U23 20km Championship and the introduction of Oceania 20km Open Championships. In 2016 a further addition was made, with the Oceania U20 10km Roadwalk Championship to be contested with the Summer 20km Championships. See the junior results sets for these U20 results. Noi facciamo base a Saluzzo e il tempo non è agevole e facile, abbiamo girato l’Europa, il mondo alla ricerca di un posto caldo, dalle Mauritius, all’Australia, passando per l’America ma poi 7 anni fa abbiamo scoperto questo posto che ci ha accolto a braccia aperte, in primis dal suo direttore Matteo, e sono quindi 7 anni che veniamo qui.” Quali sono le peculiarità che deve avere un buon marcista? “Sono 40 anni che alleno, ho allenato un centinaio di atleti anche di differente nazionalità e non ho trovato grandi differenze. L’atleta che vuole ottenere dei grandi risultati, si allena con impegno. Ho anche trovato degli atleti senza determinazione ma alla fine di tutto per fare bene serve anche tanto talento e umiltà.

    TOKYO LE OLIMPIADI PIÙ ATTESE Le abbiamo tanto aspettate, ed eccole qua, le Olimpiadi di Tokyo. Una festa di sport, nel mondo ferito dalla pandemia. Sono i miei primi Giochi Olimpici da presidente della Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera ed è un onore accompagnare a Tokyo la squadra italiana più ampia di sempre, animata da 76 atleti, che hanno inseguito e meri- tato la convocazione, frutto del loro impegno e del percorso che hanno compiuto insieme ai loro tecnici, alle società sul territorio, ai dirigenti: il gra- zie va a tutte le persone che li hanno scoperti, va- lorizzati, aiutati a crescere e sostenuti nel periodo più duro del Covid-19. Over the last three months, Katie has compiled a series of outstanding race times and broken records galore. At the Australian Championships in Sydney last Friday evening, she smashed her Australian U20 10,000m track walk record by a staggering 69 seconds, clocking 43:20.65 to win the Australian Open title. It easily bettered her 44:29.27 record from January in Canberra and comes on top of her sub-1:30 20km walks. And in more good news, 20 year old Jemima Montag finished not far behind her with a PB 43:51.47. Katie with her gold medal in Sydney on Friday evening The two girls now move up to 3rd and 6th on my Australian All-Time ranking list. But the week belonged to Katie with her win.
