A leader must remember at all times and at every moment that he always stands on the threshold between being one of those who bring merit to the public and, G-d forbid, one of those who cause the public to sin - the threshold between the loftiest of heights and the most abysmal depth
– Rabbi Sholom DovBer of Lubavitch Thoughts on the Parshah from Rabbi Sholom D. As such, it is important to observe how our ancestors prepared to receive the Torah Rabbi S. Lipskar when it was initially revealed and to glean some insights from the manner with which G-d addressed the Jewish People during this revelationary experience. Bal Harbour Police Chief
“Israel “camped” facing the mountain” (Chapter 19, verse 2). Miguel de la Rosa The word “camped” is written in the singular rather than the grammatically appropriate plural form to tell us that all of Israel, every man, woman and child, dwelled in unity “like a single person with a single heart”. It was unity, togetherness, oneness, interaction, responsibility for each other, common sharing and brotherly love that were the necessary prerequisites to receiving this Divine gift of life, the actual blueprint of creation, the Torah.
“This is what you must say to the House of Jacob and speak to the Sons of Israel” (Chapter 19, verse 3). The “House” of Jacob refers to the women and the “Sons of Israel” refers to the men. The women merited the special honor to be addressed first during revelation.

Hayom Yom In the winter of 1942, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Y. Schneersohn, of righteous memory, gave his son- in-law, the future Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, the task of compiling an anthology of Chasidic aphorisms and customs arranged according to the days of the year. The calendar was entitled Hayom Yom. In describing this work Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak wrote: …”A book that is small in format…but bursting with pearls and diamonds of choicest quality.” “A splendid palace of Chasidism.” True to these words, Hayom Yom has become a beloved classic work and a source of daily spiritual sustenance.
