Agenda Item 7 Sandwell Local Access Forum 12th April 2005 Discussion of Local Access Forum’s Response to Sandwell’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan Consultation As part of the consultation on Sandwell’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan, Dene Stevens, member representing Community Health on the Local Access Forum, has submitted the following comments for consideration. To: Members of the Sandwell Local Access Forum March 2005 Dear Colleagues on Sandwell LAF, Sandwell Rights of Way Improvement Plan consultation 2005 I have overlaid the Sandwell Walking Strategy Leisure Route Network and the planned local cycle network onto the map provided as part of the ROWIP consultation. Using this analysis, and adding my own local knowledge of certain other initiatives, I have compiled the following list of suggested improvements. I propose these for consideration at the next Local Access Forum meeting, and support by the LAF where there is agreement. In particular I would be interested to know which suggestions fellow LAF members would most endorse, and which they would consider most problematic. Note that my analysis emphasizes longer distance routes and important links in these. I am aware that there are also many shorter, isolated sections of Right of Way (or potential RoW) that are equally important and provide valuable access to local shops, schools, bus stops and other destinations. Yours sincerely, Dene Stevens Walking & Cycling for Health Development Worker Sandwell Primary Care Trusts 0121 – 500 1660 ; [email protected] and Community Health spokesperson on the LAF ID Grid Improvement Forms part of Description, suggestions, Suggested square (i) or new the following comments priority proposal (p) plans level (A high, B medium, C low) 1.
