west coast music Midnight Special Please find attached the Midnight Special song list for your review. SPECIAL DANCES for Weddings: Please note that we will need your special dance requests, (I.E. First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance etc) FOUR WEEKS in advance prior to your event so that we can confirm that the band will be able to perform the song(s) and that we are able to locate sheet music. In some cases where sheet music is not available or an arrangement for the full band is need- ed, this gives us the time needed to properly prepare the music and learn the material. Clients are not obligated to send in a list of general song requests. Many of our clients ask that the band just react to whatever their guests are responding to on the dance floor. Our clients that do provide us with song requests do so in varying degrees. Most clients give us a handful of songs they want played and avoided. Recently, we’ve noticed in increase in cli- ents customizing what the band plays and doesn’t play with very specific detail. If you de- sire the highest degree of control (allowing the band to only play within the margin of songs requested), we ask for a minimum of 100 requests. We want you to keep in mind that the band is quite good at reading the room and choosing songs that best connect with your guests. The more specific/selective you are, know that there is greater chance of losing certain song medleys, mashups, or newly released material the band has. -

The Ultimatum XLS This Multi-Chamber, Multi-Driver Confection Looks to the Seated Listener Like Any Other Two-Way Stand-Mount
October 2011 NEAT XLS Loudspeaker A small loudspeaker that is truly mesmerizing and emotionally moving. Review By Malcolm Steward NEAT Acoustics produced its first loudspeaker back in 1989. That unassuming-looking but ground-breaking model, the Petite, quickly became my 'reference' compact, high-end, two-way. It has retained that position for more than two decades. While the latest mark for iteration, the Petite SX, has replaced the somewhat utilitarian looking original, with its almost bitumen-like finished cabinet, little else – certainly nothing fundamental – has changed in all that time... except the price, of course. The Petite has now been joined in my listening room – and affections – by another and rather grander. NEAT: The Ultimatum XLS This multi-chamber, multi-driver confection looks to the seated listener like any other two-way stand-mount. However, closer inspection reveals that the bass-midrange section uses two, isobarically loaded 168mm drivers; the HF uses a single Sonomex domed XL driver; and on the top face of the enclosure sit two EMIT 25mm planar/ribbon super HF units – aka super-tweeters. That enclosure is unusual as well. It is fabricated from slow-growing, Birch plywood, chosen for its consistency and its excellent behavior in terms of resonance. The front baffle consists of controlled density fiberboard bonded to the main cabinet with a Polyethylene membrane. This produces a remarkably inert platform upon which to mount the mid-bass and high frequency drivers. Each of this array of drive units is located in its own discrete chamber: the largest of these cavities is also ported to provide ideal loading for the rear unit of the isobaric bass pairing. -

First (separate) edition of Agee’s autobiographical first novel, printed for private circulation in its entirety. One of an unrecorded number of offprints from Marguerite Caetani’s distinguished literary journal Botteghe Oscure. Presentation copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper: “to Bob Edwards / with warm good wishes / Jim Agee”. The novel was not published until 1951 when Houghton Mifflin brought it out in the United States. A story of adolescent crisis, based on Agee’s experience at the small Episcopal preparatory school in the mountains of Tennessee called St. Andrew’s, one of whose teachers, Father Flye, became Agee’s life-long friend. Wrappers dust-soiled, small area of discoloration on front free-endpaper, otherwise a very good copy, without the glassine dust jacket. Books inscribed by Agee are rare. $2,500.00 2. While previous studies have reported on how such organizations have been affected by digital technologies, this study makes a contribution to this literature by being one of the first to show how organizational routines for engaging with an increasingly productive audience actually emerge and diffuse between industries. The paper explores to what extent routines employed by two traditional media organizations have been brought in from other organizational settings, specifically from so-called ‘software platform operators’. -

Thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy March 2019 0 ABSTRACT This thesis employs popular culture texts (works of literature, film, and popular music) as companions to the understanding of contemporary America. It is about artworks that form a cultural resistance that enables the appreciation of social issues and cultural decline in the United States. The authors of these artworks are novelist Paul Auster, filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, and musician Tom Waits. Born between the late 1940s and the early 1950s, in different parts of the United States, Auster, Jarmusch, and Waits have produced a series of works that share strong similarities. In their novels, films, and songs, they portray an imagined “Other America” that is in stark contrast with the idyllic vision of the American Dream. Their America does not coincide with conventional middle-class values and goals of success, money and social upward mobility. It is an open, tolerant, and egalitarian country inhabited by marginalized “other Americans” who never escape from poverty and failure.
