Euphorion Newsletter EUPHORION NEWSLETTER week 12 Dear all, In this newsletter, we will give an update on our corona policy and what this will mean for upcoming activities in March and April. We will also give a quick update on the situation for our trip to Budapest. Next, we will share a few activities that we have planned for April. Lastly, instead of just sharing one single TIP to make your life better, we will share a whole bunch of tips and tricks to survive the boredom of being home all the time. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM EUPHORION Activities In March and April, we have no activities planned due to our corona policy. We have come to this decision based on the government’s strong recommendation to work from home as much as possible and to avoid non-essential group gatherings. This is also in line with the university’s new policy to avoid face-to-face contact as much as possible. This means that the following events and activities are canceled: ● The inside the bookstore event on Monday the 16th ● Our monthly drinks on Thursday the 19th rd th ● Our movie night in week 13 (23 – 29 ) st So far, all measures have been set in place until April 1 , but we cannot yet say what will happen after that. We will keep you updated on our future events and possible new dates for the canceled activities. We have planned a few activities in April, but we share these dates with reservation and we cannot guarantee that these will take place as we have planned. But, don’t be sad, we have a lot of fun, fantastic activities planned for the rest of the year! If you have any questions, comments or just a need to talk about something, please don’t hesitate to contact us! You can always reach us via this email or on WhatsApp. Corona and Budapest We've obviously all had questions about our upcoming trip to Budapest, since the corona virus is really making things difficult. Unfortunately nothing is certain just yet. Some of the planned activities have already contacted us to let us know that they might have to cancel, and others told us that we can still come. So far it's still okay for us to go there and we haven't had to cancel anything. The next few weeks we will make sure to call and email everyone and everything involved to be able to keep you updated. If we do have to cancel anything or maybe even the trip we will make sure to let you know as soon as possible and try to compensate as much as we can. west coast music Midnight Special Please find attached the Midnight Special song list for your review. SPECIAL DANCES for Weddings: Please note that we will need your special dance requests, (I.E. First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance etc) FOUR WEEKS in advance prior to your event so that we can confirm that the band will be able to perform the song(s) and that we are able to locate sheet music. In some cases where sheet music is not available or an arrangement for the full band is need- ed, this gives us the time needed to properly prepare the music and learn the material. Clients are not obligated to send in a list of general song requests. Many of our clients ask that the band just react to whatever their guests are responding to on the dance floor. Our clients that do provide us with song requests do so in varying degrees. Most clients give us a handful of songs they want played and avoided. Recently, we’ve noticed in increase in cli- ents customizing what the band plays and doesn’t play with very specific detail. If you de- sire the highest degree of control (allowing the band to only play within the margin of songs requested), we ask for a minimum of 100 requests. We want you to keep in mind that the band is quite good at reading the room and choosing songs that best connect with your guests. The more specific/selective you are, know that there is greater chance of losing certain song medleys, mashups, or newly released material the band has.

  • On the Possibilities and Impossibilities of Love: Mapping the Discursive Field of Love-Relationships, Its Components, Conflicts and Challenges
On the Possibilities and Impossibilities of Love: Mapping the discursive field of love-relationships, its components, conflicts and challenges. Jacob Strandell Master’s thesis in Sociology (one year), 15 hp/ECTS-credits Author: Jacob Strandell Supervisor: Dr. Åke Nilsén Examiner: Dr. Marta Cuesta Halmstad University, spring semester 2012 School of Social and Health Sciences ABSTRACT Title: On the Possibilities and Impossibilities of Love: Mapping the discursive field of love- relationships, its components, conflicts and challenges. In this thesis I reframe theories of love-relationships in late modernity (by Anthony Giddens, Zygmunt Bauman and Ulrich Beck & Elisabeth Beck-Gernsheim) in relation to a general framework of discursive theory (inspired by Michel Foucault). I suggest that current developments and contradictions in the field of love-relationships with advantage can be understood in terms of discourse and discursive conflict. Utilizing the discursive framework, I conceptualize two conflicting discursive regimes (as romantic love and individualized freedom), and their components. With these components in mind, I explore how contradicting discursive components are problematized in established risk-discourse, using cases of popular culture as illustrative reference. Risk-discourses force short-term practical solutions, and put pressure on further discursive change by inducing anxiety and cognitive dissonance. Future discourse will have to adapt to several conditions, including the (in)compatibility of discursive components, how well practical strategies work out, how social interaction is organized, and how discursive deconstruction unavoidably have consequences for the fundaments of love itself. Keywords: Love ; Relationships ; Late modernity ; Discourse ; Risk ABSTRACT IN SWEDISH Titel: On the Possibilities and Impossibilities of Love: Mapping the discursive field of love- relationships, its components, conflicts and challenges.

  • Club Queen Robyn Will Play Northside 2020
2019-11-05 10:00 CET Club queen Robyn will play NorthSide 2020 The Swedish world star and pop icon is joined by Franc Moody, Spleen United and Jung. NorthSide is seriously counting down to next year's festival; first with the announcement of Green Day and Weezer along with Danish star Lukas Graham, just to name a few. Now the festival is ready with yet another strong addition. At NorthSide 2014, Robyn joined the producer duo Röyksopp on stage for a breathtaking techno-intermezzo. For the first time ever, Robyn will visit NorthSide as a solo artist in 2020, and we guarantee that no one will "be dancing on their own", when the uncrowned queen of the dance floor unleashes 25 years of incredible songwriting and mega hits. 2018 saw the release of the album "Honey", which was led by the hit single "Missing U", and once again Robyn demonstrated the fact that she is one of the most accomplished and influential artists on the electro-pop scene. The world first laid its eyes on Robyn in 1995, when the debut album "Robyn Is Here" was released. Hits like "Do You Know (What It Takes)", ”Do You Really Want Me” and ”Show Me Love” burst onto the world stage and reached several top 10 positions on the prestigious US Billboard chart. In 2005, Robyn got her big, international breakthrough with the song "With Every Heartbeat" from the album "Robyn", which also defined the electronic, synth-heavy sound we have since come to associate her with. In 2010, the "Body Talk” trilogy arrived with massive hits like "Dancing On My Own and "Call Your Girlfriend”.

  • A VERY DOABLE Song... on Occasion, a Student Will Ask That
A VERY DOABLE song... On occasion, a student will ask that awful question, « Could we do a song, Miss? » Then, yours truly hems and haws, and mumbles vague and incomprehensible (to the student) words about modern music, pedagogical interest, and the student generally wanders off, trailing his disappointment behind him... At this point, one wonders, a) Where on EARTH a “suitable song” can be found, and more worryingly, b) What on EARTH could be done with it, and all this leads to the final, excruciating and all-important question of c) What on EARTH is meant by “Doing A Song”??? If we think honestly about the matter of songs in the English class, what is generally done? On occasion, if the words make any sense, if the lyrics are (more or less) grammatically correct, or (but this dates back to the 60s and 70s really) if there is a Message (moral, political or otherwise) it is possible to venture onto the slippery terrain of Oral Comprehension... made more complicated by the interference of the music of course... One also often comes across the printed version of the song in a textbook – and here a Written Comprehension is generally recommended... But is either of these two what the naïve and hopeful student is looking for? Hardly. He probably has no idea who Bob Dylan was, or what was meant by Blowing in the Wind. He is undoubtedly disappointed in (at best surprised by) the teacher’s choice of Stir It Up, for it dates back to Before He Was Born... no, what he was hoping for was something that he listens to, that he can relate to.

Super ACRONYM - Round 12 1. Immediately before this event, a similar but less publicized act took place between its central figure and Troy Santiago.
