Full details of additional Air-Britain books and more detailed descriptions are shown online AUSTER – the Company and the Aircraft Tom Wenham, Rod Simpson & Malcolm Fillmore NEW Auster Aircraft has a long and distinguished history, starting with its formation as British Taylorcraft in 1938 and end - ing with its absorption into Beagle Aircraft in 1960.The Auster was not, strictly, a new design since it had its origins in the American Taylorcraft two seater. However, World War II gave it a welcome momentum which led to more than 1,600 artillery spotter Austers being built for the British and other air forces. The Rearsby factory was at maximum production during the war - but, as with all other aircraft manufacturing plants, it found a sudden collapse in military orders when peace came. However, there were returning flyers keen to keep their skills alive and the Autocrat and its successors were successful, not only in the UK but also across the world. Using the same basic airframe, the Auster constantly changed its shape and the 180hp Husky of 1960 was a very different animal from the original 55hp Taylorcraft Model C. Austers were sold all over the world and were used for many tasks including crop spraying, aerial advertising and joyriding. The company also developed new models including the very successful AOP.9, and the less successful Agricola, Atlantic and Avis. -

ANNUAL REPORT spiritaero.com SPIRIT AEROSYSTEMS ANNUAL REPORT AND 1O-K 2020 Spirit AeroSystems 2 LETTER TO STOCKHOLDERS 2020 was a transformational year for Spirit supply to our customers, including critical national AeroSystems as we dealt with unparalleled challenges security programs. To address the health and safety to our business, and to the aviation industry as a concerns for our workforce, Spirit put in place whole, with dual crises resulting from the grounding protocols across our global operations to help of the 737 MAX and the sudden drop in air travel due protect our team. The entries in this guide are arranged by company name and include a history of each company, particularly its formation and that of subsidiaries together with mergers and take-overs. Brief details of the records, the relevant accession numbers and any limitations on access are given. Where the records have been listed this is indicated. A glossary of terms specific to the subject area is also included, together with an index. Background to the Collection The Museum's archive department began collecting records in the late 1960s and targeted a number of firms. Although many of the deposits were arranged through formal approaches by the Museum to companies, a significant number were offered by company staff: a significant example is the Supermarine archive (AC 70/4) including some 50,000 drawings, which would have been burnt had an employee not contacted the Museum. The collections seem to offer a bias towards certain types of record, notably drawings and production records, rather than financial records and board minutes. -
