The May 23 low tide tour was canceled due to high winds. For anyone who intends to attend these low tide tours, especially in the early morning hours, please bring your foul weather gear as you will get wet in “The General”. Also bring your own pfd's; remember all kids 13 and under are required to wear them at all times while on the pier and on the water. I also was able to fit in two checkout rides on the Mercurys on the morning of May 16 and one checkout on May 22 when four sailors had the opportunity to sail the club owned boats for the first time. Tom Hagan was also able to take some members out on a checkout ride on May 23. I really enjoy these adventures and encourage anyone who has a desire to sail to come out. I am always looking for volunteers to help me out so please contact me if you can lend a hand. The first mandatory sailors' meeting on May 8 was well attended by 36 members. Fourteen members attended the second and final mandatory meeting on May 22. Race Corner (continued) Tom Hagan was our first Sunday Seminar instructor for the year on May 30. Tom will provide an overview of the YRA sailing Solstice Regatta instructions. Class starts at 12:50pm. Remember the start for the Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20, OGYC hosts its Solstice 2010 YRA is 1450 this year. I am looking for other Sunday semi- Regatta for Lasers and Ideal 18s. This is a competitive, two-day nar instructors throughout the season. Please let me know if you regatta with entries from Indian Harbor, Riverside and Belle can teach on any of the remaining Sundays from June 6 to Haven yacht clubs. "Experience The Sound" On May 29, between 1:00 and 4:00, the club held a “happening” Children's Boat Safety Class to expand the community's awareness of coastal marine life. It was planned as both a family event as well as a marketing vehicle & Ice Cream Social for the club.
