The rear of the building appears to be stone-walled through both storeys. The front half is timber-framed. The gabled street-front is double-jettied with square panelling infilled with roughcast and rests on a coursed rubble plinth. The interior retains some good seventeenth century details. The ground floor has a nineteenth century shop front with windows flanking a central, double door. The ground floor plan (1964)comprises two rooms, the front one heated by a side fire place, the back one by a fireplce on the rear gable wall. The first floor and the attic floor are both framed. In a town house of this period the front room was usually a shop, in the sense of a workshop, a place where goods were made or finished, as where they were sold; and here the back room was probably, though not certainly, a hall and kitchen combined. This leaves the functions of a parlour for the upstairs room above the shop, occupying the position of the solar in the type of medieval town house which had an open hall. The steeply pitched roof is hung with stone tiles. There are various outbuildings to the rear, including the northern end of a former slaughterhouse (NPRN 406013). Facing this across a narrow yard is a single storey, brick-walled, gabled range. Neither this range or the yard or garden area to the rear are shown on OS County series 1st edition (Brecknock. XVII.12 1889). The interior of the building is integrated with that of No. 7 next door (NPRN 25146). It has had many uses.
