Nicla who is a third year Law student, knew that he didn’t Fwant only a university degree to be the ticket to his suc- cess story. His love for fashion started way back in high school and now he is part of the legendary story of how men are taking centre stage in Fashion. The brand is going to undergo major developments in 2016. When campus vision asked him why he has taken so long to launch Don Lucio, he made it clear that he did not just want it to be like every other t shirt brand that just pops up and disappears. Don Lucio is a project that he is very passionate about and he plans to make his mark on the fashion industry permanent. He plans to raise the Namibian flag high because he will make his brand known outside the country as well just to prove that Namibia can do it big as well. Don Lucio is definitely a brand worth watching out for because it is spear headed by a very driven, focused and ambitious young man who is setting a great example for every student out there. By: Blanche Engelbrecht UNAM ART Ngaihape Viyandjua Kavari is a third year Psychology student who creates art in his spare time. remember a particular art lesson in grade two. It was at about 8 am on a calm spring morning and Ithe teacher suggested we sit and paint outside. As I began to put down my first few strokes, my teacher noticed something and said she likes how gentle I am with the brush. From there onwards, my interest in art kept growing. My work is inspired by a feeling I honestly cant explain or tell where it comes from. I simply enjoy drawing and I like a healthy challenge. Furthermore, I appreciate the love and respect I get from the re- actions of viewers. I live for that. My catalogue consists of fine detailed pen or pencil drawings, be it a face or an exploded view of an object. Every now and then I would experiment with oil paint and pastels as well, but ink and lead remain my preferable means. As far as any description goes, I would rather let others describe my art for themselves. It is whatever it is to you. Whether it makes sense or not, I simply admire the idea of that. Personally I regard art as life. Period. issue - one - 2016 campus vision 21 MAGAZINE CAMPUS

he transformation of UNAM from Blue to fast STORIES ON: and reliable internet services: A student’s per- spective TI am quite impressed by the speed and reliability ENTERTAINMENT of the new USB internet devices supplied by the University of Namibia (UNAM) to its students. Pre- viously the University was provided students with CAMPUS NEWS internet devices supplied by MTC. The switch to TN mobile is a clear tell-tale that the cries of the stu- dents have been heard. ART The MTC devices were so infuriatingly slow. Try as you might, you could never get anything done. I swear those devices could only load one page per hour. There was no hope of finalizing any crunch time work (code for last minute submis- sion of school work). The Wi-Fi on campus was even worse. There were days when it would just be absent without leave (AWOL). On days that it worked it was clearly tired from all the holidaying it did that it was just so lazy and slow. Despite these issues, students were still charged a whooping non-negotiable five hundred Namib- ian dollars (N$ 500.00). Mind you the UNAM main campus had about nineteen thousand (19 000) students enrolled last year, and each one of us, want or not, had to get a 3G device. That’s about nine point five million Namibian dollars (N$ 9,5 mil- lion) that we spent on those things. With that kind of cash the least a client could expect is proper inter- net services. The internet is a superior means of communica- tion and information dissemination. It is the ultimate mode of information sharing in the 21st century. Hence the important need of an affordable, fast and reliable connection in a learning environment such as this. Kudos to our beloved management for becoming conscious of our plight and dealing with the issue hands on. Deidre Shino 22 campus vision issue - one - 2016 CAMPUS SPLASH
