Embark on a 14-day adventure from the fabled to the remote Alor archipelago. This exciting journey begins in , the gateway to Komodo, and ends in Alor.

KOMODO NATIONAL PARK

The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site consisting of 3 larger islands (Komodo, Padar and ) and 26 smaller ones, many of which are uninhabited. Komodo and Rinca are home to the native Komodo dragons, respected by locals who believe they descend from one born to a dragon princess centuries ago. The islands turn from lush green to arid throughout summer, contrasting against the vivid blue of the sea.

At first sight the mysterious islands of the Komodo archipelago might remind you of Park, rising out of the Indonesian sea in great humpbacked ridges covered with windblown savannah grasses and the tousled heads of lontar palms. This is the land of dragons, where you can walk among the giant of Rinca Island (more spectacularly aggressive than those of Komodo itself), cruise through the mangroves and trek to grassy summits. The tropical waters of Komodo National Park has long been famous as one of the most species-rich tropical underwater environments on earth, with an official count of more than 1,000 types of fish and 260 corals.

ALOR ARCHIPELAGO

Alor is the largest island in the Alor Archipelago in southeastern . Among the islands surrounding Alor, visitors will see spellbinding marine life, the unique Moko kettledrums, the oldest Al Qur’an in South East and the traditional villages of the highlands – not to mention Komba Island, where Batu Tara spits lava every 30mins in a spectacular natural fireworks display.

The Pantar Strait sits between the islands of Pantar and Alor and is famed for its stunning and varied topography, both above and below the water line, wonderfully green with beautiful beaches in the north of strait. On these pristine reefs, one of the most common sights is the collection of woven fish traps used by the locals. Pura is the biggest of the islands with a high peak and villages dotted round its edge; one of the striking parts of this region is the churches and mosques sat side by side. These villages are famed for their warm welcomes, the wonderful curiosity of their people and of course the spear fishermen wearing their wooden framed goggles.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: LABUAN BAJO

Guests will be met by the yacht’s crew at Labuan Bajo airport and transferred to the harbour. After guests have settled in and been briefed by the crew, the boat will sail from Labuan Bajo to Sabolan, a small island with white, sandy beaches and coral reefs, where guests can enjoy their first snorkel or a check dive. This evening, drinks will be served at sunset, followed by dinner under the stars.

DAY 2: RINCA

After a decadent breakfast out on deck, guests can go in search of the legendary – the largest living species of - on the grassy peaks of Rinca Island and in the afternoon, guests can choose to visit one of Komodo’s local villages, pick a tropical reef to snorkel, or a blush pink beach to relax on. Sunsets in Komodo National Park are magnificent, and make for the perfect evening at the yacht sets sail for South Komodo.

DAY 3: SOUTH KOMODO

This morning, the yacht will drop anchor near Nusa Kode in the southern area of Rinca Island. This spot is home to spectacular and unusual dive sites, such as Cannibal Rock and Larry’s Yellow Wall of Texas. Here, guests can see Komodo dragons running up and down the beach and enjoy an evening anchored in this stunning quiet bay.

DAY 3: SOUTH RINCA

South Rinca is home to the famous Horse Shoe bay of Nusa Kode, where guests can see the fierce Komodo dragons running up and down the beach in front of Cannibal Rock, one of the world’s most famous macro dive sites. Guests can spend one day exploring this mysterious spot, where the landscape is entirely different to the rest of the Komodo region. With its high walls and dense forest, it is like any other place in the world and a chance to spot fish eagles, and monkeys.

DAY 4: PADAR

Between Rinca and Komodo Island lies the island of Padar – the third largest isle in the park. A sheltered bay on the southeast side makes for a beautiful anchorage within reach of several excellent diving sites, such as Secret Garden and Three Sisters, home to shoals of schooling fish among deep pinnacles and current swept walls. The bay of Padar is also the perfect site for beach time, with an exceptional sunset view, and this evening guests will be treated to a private beach barbecue on a secluded cove.

DAY 5: GILI LAWA LAUT & GILI LAWA DARAT

On the northwestern edge of Komodo are the Gili Lawa islands. These two islands are home to some of Komodo's most famous dive sites including Castle and Crystal Rock, Shotgun, The Passage and Lighthouse. Theses sites are home to a myriad of Manta Rays, schooling fish and critters alike. The islands also offer stretches of private beaches for relaxing on between dives and a 45-minute trek to the top of Gili Lawa Darat rewards guests with one of the most stunning views of the northern side of the Komodo National Park and makes for a wonderful Komodo sunset.

DAY 6: RIUNG

Today, the yacht will depart the Komodo region and sail towards the Riung Marine National Park off the north coast of . Here, guests can spend the day exploring the 24 beautiful islands around the park. Aside from incredible marine life, the park is home to interesting on land in the forests, and the park also spans five remote and fascinating villages. After a decadent lunch on deck, guests will have the opportunity to visit an isolated village on the mainland to learn about local culture. There’s an interesting cave nearby where dusk brings a mighty spectacle - thousands of bats taking off for their nightly jaunt.

DAY 7: PALOE

This morning, guests will awake to the wonderful sight of Paloe, a small volcanic island. There’s a fascinating village built on the volcanic slope, as though the smoking crater above was no real threat, and here guests can go and see the traditional weave textiles in the making. After lunch onboard, the rest of the day may be spent snorkelling and diving in the crystal clear waters around the island.

DAY 8:

After breakfast, guests will disembark the yacht in Rope for a full-day trip to see the three sacred coloured lakes of Kelimutu. Kelimutu means Mountain of the Spirits, known for its famous 3 colourful lakes - It’s the dissolved minerals that give the lakes their different colours. A three-hour drive through the forested interior of Flores will give way to a hike to Mount Kelimutu’s summit, where the panoramic view spans not just the three mysterious lakes, but also the entire eastern peninsula of Flores. Once guests have had a chance to take in the view, they’ll be driven back down to the village of Moni for lunch in a traditional restaurant. On the return, guests can stop at the traditional villages of Golowaru and Sikka, home to ancient megalithic monuments.

DAY 9:

Today, the yacht will arrive in the bay of Maumere, where guests can dive, snorkel or go fishing. There’s a small village to explore on the coast, set beside a crater. After lunch onboard, the yacht will sail to the island of Babi, known for ristine beaches and spectacular coral reefs. Sunset is deal for fishing, so guests will have a chance to do some trolling to cash Spanish mackerel or Wahoo. Sunset will be spent with cocktails on a deserted beach, before the chef serves up the catch of the day for dinner.

DAY 10: ILIAPE

After breakfast, guests can go snorkelling or diving near Iliape Village, a spot home to large schools of juvenile fish. For those wishing to summit a nearby volcano, there’s the option to hire donkeys or horses to help with the climb. Just ahead of sunset, guests can visit the village of Iliape where the locals perform a magnificent dance show accompanied with regional delicacies.

DAY 11: LEMBATA ISLAND

Today, guests will have the opportunity to visit one of the most extraordinary communities on the planet - the whaling village of Lamalera on Lembata Island - famous for its adherence !to traditional methods of fishing. Here, guests can see traditional village life and observe the manner in which the community utilises every single part of their catch as sustenance. Lamalera is one of only two villages in Indonesia that have been allowed to continue sustaining themselves in this way, because it has been embedded in their way of life for many .

DAY 12: NORTHERN KAWULA & KOMBA

The morning offers the chance to dive or snorkel the reefs off the north coast of Kawula, where, large schools of brightly colored reef fish cluster around stunning tiers of hard coral. Later, guests can spend the afternoon observing one of the most active peaks in the ring of fire; miles out to sea, off the northern coast of Flores lies the island of Komba. Here, guests can watch an active volcano spew smoke and lava every half hour, as the day turns to night, enjoying ’s most magnificent fireworks display.

DAY 13: PANTAR STRAIT

The Pantar Strait sits between the islands of Pantar and Alor and is made up of four large islands, Buaya, Ternate, Pura and Trewag. This entire area is famed for its varied topography, both above and below the water line, wonderfully green with some stunning beaches in the north of strait. On these pristine reefs one of the most common sights are the woven fish traps used by the locals. The villages in this area are famed for their warm welcomes and the spear fishermen wearing their wooden framed goggles. Guests may also visit a traditional seaweed farm.

DAY 14: ALOR

This morning, the yacht will reach the island of Alor. After a final decadent breakfast, guests will be transferred to Alor airport to catch their returning flight to Bali.
