    ÜBER HALBE MILLION MENSCHEN SAHEN „I AM FROM AUSTRIA“ IN ORF 2 VBW-Erfolgsmusical erreicht über 18 % Marktanteil Wien, 10. März 2020: Mehr als eine halbe Million ZuseherInnen haben vergangenen Samstag das VBW-Hitmusical I AM FROM AUSTRIA in ORF 2 gesehen. Mit einer Durchschnittsreichweite von 509.000, einem Marktanteil von 18 % und einem Spitzenwert von fast 600.000 Menschen ist dies ein neuer Rekord für die Eigenproduktion der Vereinigten Bühnen Wien. Das Stück von Titus Hoffmann & Christian Struppeck mit den größten Hits von Rainhard Fendrich feierte – nach der Erstausstrahlung am 27. Oktober 2019 in ORF III – am 7. März erfolgreich Premiere in ORF 2. Zu sehen war die Original-Inszenierung von Andreas Gergen aus dem Raimund Theater mit Publikumslieblingen wie u.a. Iréna Flury, Lukas Perman, Elisabeth Engstler, Andreas Steppan, Dolores Schmidinger oder Martin Bermoser in den Hauptrollen. Christian Struppeck, VBW-Musical-Intendant und Co-Autor I AM FROM AUSTRIA: „Über eine halbe Million Menschen haben vergangenen Samstag I AM FROM AUSTRIA in ORF 2 gesehen. Diese Quote unseres Erfolgsmusicals mit Spitzenwerten von fast 600.000 ZuseherInnen schließt nahtlos an den hiesigen wie internationalen Erfolg des Stücks an. Januar 2018 Stuttgart Theaterhaus Die Begleitband der Austropop-Größen präsentiert ab Dezember ein einzigartiges Programm mit Musik und vielen Blicken hinter die Kulissen der Supergroup aus Wien. 1997 schlossen sich drei große Österreicher zu einem Best-of österreichischer Musik zusammen: Ambros, Fendrich und Danzer schrieben mit Austria 3 Geschichte. 20 Jahre später bringt ihre Band Wir4 diese Geschichte wieder auf die Bühne. Wolfgang Ambros, Rainhard Fendrich und Georg Danzer gründeten die österreichische Supergroup als Zeichen ihrer Solidarität mit Wien und seinen Obdachlosen. Auf dem einmaligen Konzert im Dezember 1997 sollten genug Spenden zusammenkommen, um ein Haus für obdachlose Senioren finanzieren zu können. Nicht nur die Benefizaktion war ein voller Erfolg, auch die Fans der bisher einzelnen Künstler wollten mehr. Den drei Musikern war es eine Herzensangelegenheit mit den geschätzten Kollegen auf der Bühne zu stehen und starteten eine zweite Karriere mit imposanten Erfolgen, unvergesslichen Konzerten und goldenen Schallplatten. Seit dem ersten Konzert waren nur Freunde und enge Wegbegleiter an ihrer Seite, die sich Wir4 nennen. Ulli Bäer, Gary Lux, Harald Fendrich und Harry Stampfer gehen auch nach der Auflösung von Austria 3 gemeinsame Wege. 2017 bringen sie nicht nur die bekannten Melodien und Lieblingslieder in die Ohren der Fans. The performances of this musical—inside and outside of the theater—were concerned with cultural and identity politics as well as the history of the musical with pop music in Vienna. This paper gives a picture of the local prerequisites for I am from Austria in terms of the actual and historical settings of musicals in Vienna, where the imported concepts of the “musical” and later the “jukebox musical” have been indigenized. Looking at the process of production, performance and reception, I am from Austria was the culmination of the attempts to launch an original musical from Vienna together with the financial support of the municipal government, where the cultural-political mission of musical was discussed. Meanwhile, musicals in Vienna were driven by two motivations: (1) to hybridize this genre with European music theater to reactivate Viennese musical theater, and (2) to interpret it in the contemporary context on site for broader and younger audience, following the nature of popular musical theater that the performing style and form are constantly forced to keep up with the rapid transformation of popular culture on site. The latter perspective is crucial to understanding the growth of the potential audience for I am from Austria as a result of the simultaneous and interactive localization of pop music and musical since the 1960s in Austria.

Der Text erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit. Textpassagen oder Inhalte können gerne frei verwendet werden. Ein Hinweis auf die Quelle („Website Wolfgang Ambros“) wäre nett. 1952-1961 Wolfgang Ambros kommt am 19. März 1952 im niederösterreichischen Wolfsgraben als Sohn eines Volksschuldirektors und einer Lehrerin zur Welt. Er wächst ganz in der Nähe seines heutigen Wohnhauses auf und besucht die Volksschule seines Vaters. 1962-1970 Die Schulkarriere wird in Wien fortgesetzt. Zuerst im Bundeskonvikt im 2. Wiener Bezirk, nach zwei Jahren am Bundesgymnasium in Wien 14, Astgasse, fliegt dort durch und entscheidet sich nach einem weiteren Jahr in der Hauptschule für die "Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt", wo er sich zum Siebdrucker ausbilden lässt. In seiner Klasse: Joesi Prokopetz, zu dessen Gedichten er seine ersten Lieder schreibt. Von der "Graphischen" fliegt er aus "disziplinären Gründen" - weil er nach dem Abgang seiner "ersten großen Liebe", die in die gleiche Klasse gegangen ist, aufs Lernen "verzichtet" (nachzuhören auf der LP "Mann und Frau"). Stattdessen verdient er sein Geld als Schreibmaschinenmechaniker, Auslagenarrangeur und schliesslich als Plattenverkäufer im Musikhaus "3/4" in der Seilergasse. Mit 17 vermittelt ihm der Geschäftsführer einen Job in London, wo er aber nach einem Jahr ohne Arbeitsgenehmigung wieder ausgewiesen wird. In einem Cafe trifft er zufällig seinen "alten Haberer" Joesi Prokopetz. 1971 Ambros ist wieder in seinem "Traumjob" als Plattenverkäufer engagiert, diesmal im "Musik-Palais" in der Wiener Innenstadt. Am Abend trifft er sich mit Freunden am Theseustempel und singt seine Lieder - darunter den "Hofa", ein vertontes Prokopetz- Gedicht.

Juli 2006 in Wiesen (Burgenland) von Regisseur Rudi Dolezal mitgedreht (Zusatzaufnahmen fanden auch in Passau, Imst und München statt). Die Drei präsentierten sich in Wiesen in Top-Form und waren sich nach dem Auftritt einig: „Ein Konzert mit ganz spezieller Atmosphäre – unser Lieblingskonzert von Austria 3.“ Im Konzert spielen sie alle ihre Hits (siehe Tracklist des 90 minütigen Konzertfilms). The variants of legal immigration to Austria are also increasingly being considered and discussed in the wake of the developments of the last few years – especially the experiences of the so­called “refugee crisis” of 2015. On the whole, this is happening ahead of wide­reaching efforts to gauge the issue of migration in its entirety and complexity more deeply than ever before, to develop state regulations and to arrive at a national migration strategy, which also takes global implications into consideration. Against this background, the 2015 establishment of the Migration Council under the direction of Paul Lendvai is to be judged as the continuation of its work in the Migration Commission as a consultative body of the competent departments in the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior and – with the LINDA LILITH JAKUBOWICZ, establishment of Department III/13 (National, European and International Migration Researcher at the Institute of Strategies) – the creation of the corresponding administrative structures in the same.
