    1 Sweden will be the guest of honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2013. This is the largest book fair for literature for children and young adults and our participation as guest of honour is a unique opportunity for Swedish authors and illustrators to reach readers far beyond Sweden’s borders, and to promote children’s and young people’s right to culture internationally. Our participation starts in 2012 and marks the 10th anniversary of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. This will be celebrated with various events including an exhibition featuring previous award recipients. Last year over 1.600 books for children and young adults were published in Sweden. Mats Kempe, author and librarian has been given the almost impossible task of choosing and presenting a selection of last year’s rich offering.     Anna Höglund tilldelas Astrid Lindgren-priset Författaren, illustratören och konstnären Anna Höglund tilldelades idag Astrid Lindgren-priset för förtjänstfullt författarskap inom barn- och ungdomslitteraturen med motiveringen: Anna Höglund både skriver och tecknar poetiskt och precist, egensinnigt och vackert, samtida och tidlöst om relationer, känslor och identitet samt om att vara liten och bli stor så att det känns och stannar kvar hos såväl små som stora läsare. Prisutdelningen ägde rum i Rabén & Sjögrens lokaler på Riddarholmen i Stockholm. Traditionsenligt bjöds på ostkaka och portvin. Anna Höglund föddes 1958 och räknas som en av Sveriges främsta illustratörer och har samarbetat med författare som Ulf Stark, Barbro Lindgren, Eva Susso, Gunnar Lundkvist och Ulf Nilsson. Hon har också skrivit flera egna böcker, som böckerna om Mina och Kåge. Hon debuterade 1982 med Sagan om pannkakan och har sedan dess publicerat ett 20-tal böcker, varav många har blivit översätta till andra språk. Anna Höglund skriver även dramatik och gör tecknad film. Hon bor tillsammans med man och barn i Stockholm. Astrid Lindgren-priset instiftades av Rabén & Sjögren den 14 november 1967 på Astrids 60-årsdag. Priset har sedan dess delats ut årligen för förtjänstfullt författarskap inom barn- och ungdomslitteraturen. Prissumman är på 50 000 kronor.     ILLUSTRATORS PIJA LINDENBAUM, PERNILLA STALFELT AND JAN LÖÖF AMONG THOSE SELECTED FOR THE BOLOGNA BOOK FAIR Thirty one illustrators will represent Sweden at the world’s largest Children’s Book Fair in Bologna in March 2013. Well‐known names include Anna‐Clara Tidholm, sisters Lisen and Emma Adbåge, Sven Nordqvist and many other contemporary Swedish illustrators of children’s books. The ages of those selected range from Ilon Wikland, born in 1930, to Clara Dackenberg, born in 1987. A third of the illustrators were born in the 1980s, which bodes well for a new lease of life for the Swedish picture book. Emma Adbåge was born in Linköping in 1982 and is a children’s author and an illustrator of children’s books. Över 850 barn har i sommar deltagit i Svenska Livräddningssällskapets och Bonnier Carlsens simskoletävling ”Samla kunskapsbevis med LasseMaja”. Tävlingen är nu avgjord och för andra året i rad står badet i Vårgårda som vinnare. Tävlingen är ett samarbete mellan Svenska Livräddningssällskapet och Bonnier Carlsen och har initierats för att uppmuntra fler barn att gå i simskola och ta kunskapsbevis. Samtliga simskolor i Sverige har under sommaren kunnat registrera de kunskapsbevis som barnen tagit.
