The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin. -

Among these vertebrates, birds rank first. Insectivorous birds are accepted as active agents in the control of forest and agricultural pests. They protect the natural balance by eating the adults, larvae, pupae and eggs of insects. In this review, we aimed to especially give information about the importance of birds that are effective in protecting against pests of forests within biological control. Key words: Biological control, entomophagous, birds, forest pests Özet: Zararlı böcekler üzerinde omurgalıların baskısı oldukça yüksektir. Bu omurgalılar arasında kuĢlar ilk sırayı almaktadır. Böcekçil kuĢlar, ormanlarda ve tarımda zararlı olan böceklerin mücadelesinde potansiyel etkin etmen olarak kabul görmektedirler. Böceklerin erginlerini, pupalarını, larvalarını ve yumurtalarını yiyerek doğal dengeyi korunmaktadırlar. Bu derlemede özellikle ormanların zararlılara karĢı korunmasında etkili olan kuĢların biyolojik mücadeledeki önemi hakkında bilgiler verilmeye çalıĢılmıĢtır. Anahtar sözcükler: Biyolojik etmen, entomofag kuĢlar, orman zararlıları GiriĢ KuĢlar yüksek oranda enerji tükettiklerinden sık sık beslenmek zorundadırlar. Beslenmeleri için gerekli olan adaptasyonları kuĢların evriminin çarpıcı bir özelliğidir. Bu adaptasyonlar yalnızca beslenirken hareket etmeleri ve besinlerini yakalamaları değil aynı zamanda çok çeĢitli dil yapılarıyla baĢlayan sindirim sistemlerinin tamamının özelleĢmiĢ olmasıdır (Kasarov 1996). KuĢlar diğer omurgalılar gibi diĢlere sahip olmadıkları için gagalarını yalnızca kabuklu tohumların kabuklarını ayırmak için ya da ağızla alınamayacak kadar büyük olan avlarını parçalamak için kullanırlar. Besin gagayla alındıktan sonra ilk olarak proventrikulusta kimyasal enzimlere maruz bırakılır, sonrasında fiziksel sindirim için gizzarda gönderilir ve sindirim olayı gerçekleĢtirilir. -

Many conditions in the urban habitats are modified compared to those in the rural ones, so the organisms present reactions to these changes. To determine to what extent the habitat type influences insects, we tested the differences in the pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) leaf-mining insect community between urban and rural habitats in Serbia. Lower species richness, abundance, and diversity were determined on trees in the urban environment. Due to the differences in the habitat types, many of the species disappeared, while most of the remaining species declined. The seasonal dynamics of species richness, abundance, and diversity differed between the habitat types. Both rural and urban populations started with low values in May. Subsequently, rural populations gained higher species richness, abundance, and diversity. -

Between 2004 and 2013 Csalomon type pheromone traps were operating in Bodrogkisfalud (48°10’N; 21°21E; Borsod-Abaúj- Zemplén County, Hungary, Europe). The data were processed of following species: Spotted Tentiform Leafminer (Phyllonorycter blancardella Fabricius, 1781), Hawthorn Red Midged Moth (Phyllonorycter corylifoliella Hübner, 1796), Peach Twig Borer (Anarsia lineatella Zeller, 1839), European Vine Moth (Lobesia botrana Denis et Schiffermüller, 1775), Plum Fruit Moth (Grapholita funebrana Treitschke, 1846), Oriental Fruit Moth (Grapholita molesta Busck, 1916) and Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella Linnaeus, 1758). Butterfly Conservation Regional Action Plan For Anglia (Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk) This action plan was produced in response to the Action for Butterflies project funded by WWF, EN, SNH and CCW This regional project has been supported by Action for Biodiversity Cambridgeshire and Essex Branch Suffolk branch BC Norfolk branch BC Acknowledgements The Cambridgeshire and Essex branch, Norfolk branch and Suffolk branch constitute Butterfly Conservation’s Anglia region. This regional plan has been compiled from individual branch plans which are initially drawn up from 1997-1999. As the majority of the information included in this action plan has been directly lifted from these original plans, credit for this material should go to the authors of these reports. They were John Dawson (Cambridgeshire & Essex Plan, 1997), James Mann and Tony Prichard (Suffolk Plan, 1998), and Jane Harris (Norfolk Plan, 1999). County butterfly updates have largely been provided by Iris Newbery and Dr Val Perrin (Cambridgeshire and Essex), Roland Rogers and Brian Mcllwrath (Norfolk) and Richard Stewart (Suffolk). Some of the moth information included in the plan has been provided by Dr Paul Waring, David Green and Mark Parsons (BC Moth Conservation Officers) with additional county moth data obtained from John Dawson (Cambridgeshire), Brian Goodey and Robin Field (Essex), Barry Dickerson (Huntingdon Moth and Butterfly Group), Michael Hall and Ken Saul (Norfolk Moth Survey) and Tony Prichard (Suffolk Moth Group). Some of the micro-moth information included in the plan was kindly provided by A. M. Emmet.
