    International Journal of Social Science and Economic Research ISSN: 2455-8834 Volume:03, Issue:01 "January 2018" TOURISM STATUS OF SOUTHERN LEYTE PROVINCE: BASIS FOR WEB-BASED TOURISM MARKETING STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT Jenny May T. Cinco Instructor I, Leyte Normal University, Paterno Street, Tacloban City 6500 Leyte ABSTRACT Tourism is undeniably a paramount piece in the economy. Different sectors subsist all together and play different roles but with the same aspiration of gaining substantial income. Social, cultural and educational constituencies are affected positively as tourism status arises in distinct areas of the country. This study assessed the status of Southern Leyte Tourism Industry regarding the tourism attractions, tourism services, and products that support the tourism industry to develop an advance tourism marketing strategy through the use of Information Technology concept. Tourist market of Southern Leyte’s tourism and the problems exist that affect the province tourism industry were also determined. Researcher-made questionnaire and series of surveys were carried out to perceive the actual location and condition of the different tourist attractions in the province. Personal interviews were done with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Southern Leyte Tourism, Investment, and Promotions Center. INTRODUCTION The current wave of global situation is impacting the tourism industry worldwide, and few places become immune. It aimed at providing farmers, traders and policy makers the regional and national data on marketing infrastructure and facilities for cereals, livestock and fisheries. Some of the data covered the period 2009-2014, while others have shorter periods due to data availability constraints. The first part of this report focuses on marketing infrastructure, while the second part presents the marketing facilities for cereals, livestock and fisheries. The information contained in this report were sourced primarily from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and other agencies, namely, National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and National Dairy Authority (NDA).

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIGHWAYS OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY Manila DEPARTMENT ORDER) SUBJECT CRITERIA AND GUIDELINES FOR ROAD CONVERSION FROM LOCAL TO NATIONAL ROADS AND VICE VERSA NO. 133 )~ Series of 20~~.~. c( To provide a set of criteria and guidelines for the evaluation of roads for conversion from local to national and vice versa relative to Executive Order (EO) No. 124, series of 1987, Section 5(i), which mandates the DPWH to classify roads and highways into national, regional, provincial, city, municipal, and barangay roads and highways, based on objective criteria it shall adopt; provide or authorize the conversion of roads and highways from one category to another that focuses on the functionality of a road in relation to the national road network. I. The conversion of roads and highways shall be evaluated based on the following road functional classification criteria: NATIONAL ROADS: 1.) Primary Roads 1.1 A contiguous length of significant road sections extending linearly without any breaks or forks that connect major cities (At least around 100,000 population) comprising the main trunk line or the backbone of the National Road System. 2.) Secondary Roads 2.1 Directly connect cities to national primary roads, except in metropolitan areas 2.2 Directly connect maior ports and major ferry terminals to national primary roads 2.3 Directly connect major airports to national primary roads 2.4 Directly connect tourist service centers to national primary roads 2.5 Directly connect cities (not included in the category of major cities) 2.6 Directly connect provincial capitals within the same region 2.7 Directly connect major national government infrastructure to national primary roads or other national secondary roads 3.) Applicable only for Primary and Secondary Roads 3.1 Bypass/Diversion Roads • Roads that divert through traffic away from the City/Municipality Business Center (with affirmative Feasibility Study).

The report widens the scope of the BSP’s market surveillance, adding a geographic dimension to the economic indicators that it monitors regularly. The analysis of regional trends and developments are valuable inputs in monetary policy formulation and financial supervision. The report tracks economic developments in the regions, focusing on demand and supply conditions, monetary and price developments as well as the emerging economic outlook. It helps confirm the results of the business and consumer expectations surveys conducted by the BSP. Moreover, identifying opportunities and challenges faced by the different regions enhances further the BSP’s forward-looking and proactive approach to monetary policy. Regional performance is gauged using developments in output, prices, and employment. Selected key indicators in each of the major sectors of the economy are the focus of the surveillance. Agriculture covers rice and corn, livestock, fishery, and poultry production. In the industry sector, the number of building permits and housing starts are used to measure construction activity; while developments in the banking system are used to analyze the services sector.
