Durrill, Ph.D. i ABSTRACT Certain events in recent history have called into question some long-held assumptions about the colors of our material history. The controversy over the cleaning of the Sistine Chapel posited questions about color to an international audience, and in the United States the restoration of original decorative colors at the homes of many historically significant figures and religious groups has elicited a visceral reaction suggesting the new colors challenge Americans’ entrenched notions of what constituted respectable taste, if not comportment, in their forebears. Recent studies have even demonstrated that something as seemingly objective as photography has greatly misled us about the appearance of our past. We tend to see the nineteenth century as a faded, sepia-toned monochrome. But nothing could be further from the truth. Coloring Their World: Americans and Decorative Color in the Nineteenth Century, argues that in that century we can witness one of the only true democratizations in American history—the diffusion of color throughout every level of society. In the eighteenth century American aristocrats brandished color like a weapon, carefully crafting the material world around them as a critical part of their political and social identities, cognizant of the power afforded them by color’s correct use, and the consequences of failure. -

Financial Fragility and Neoliberalism in Developing Countries Andrés Blancas• Abstract The aim of this paper is to show the financial fragility dynamics in developing countries following the last theoretical advances. As an empirical application we prove that the Mexican economy has been characterized by financial fragility, mainly during the crisis terms. Financial fragility has created difficult problems for policy makers; in trying to fix it by restricted monetary and fiscal policies, they have triggered the generalized financial crises. Whereby, financial fragility can be diagnosed as an structural problem of developing countries like Mexico and a real potential risk of generalized economic crisis in the process of economic liberalization nowadays. Key Words: Economic dynamics, financial fragility, developing countries, financial crisis, monetary policy and Mexican economy JEL Classification: C61, E44, E58, F34, O5 1 Introduction The 1990s financial crises in developing and newly industrializing countries exemplify the risk of financial volatility and economic instability that has accompanied the economic liberalization and the deregulation of financial markets. Broadway Costumes Costume Rentals How-To’s, Contract Terms & Conditions Rental Rates & Deposits: The basic rental period is 2 nights. We do not charge for any days that Broadway Costumes is closed. Additional days rent at the rate of 20% per day plus tax. Special weekly rates and “play” rates may apply. Just inquire as to your special needs. Deposits are required and are usually twice the amount required as the stated rental rate up to and including the current retail value. Minimum deposit is $20. Deposits are not refundable for any cancellations unless 1 (one) week or more in advance, then 50% refunded. The deposit is NOT part of the rental balance. The entire rental balance is due when the costume is picked up. Deposits may be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) or by cash. Deposits are refunded after costume return and any applicable fees are paid. Rental Return: You must return all rented items by the date stated on the contract. Items not returned on the specified date are subject to a late fee of 20% of the basic rental rate per day late plus tax. Alterations by Broadway Costumes: Alterations and cleaning are normally included in the rental price. However, alterations may take up to two weeks at peak seasons; faster service may require an additional service charge. Alterations by Customer: NO ALTERATIONS are allowed by the customer. Any alterations done outside of Broadway Costumes will be considered as damage and will result in assessed fees. Smoking and Eating While in Costume: Be very cautious. -

The decision overturned a ruling by City Planning Director Lisa Gardner, and it serves as vindication for the neighbors who have bat- tled to have more say in the arena project since the site was first targeted in 2003. “This should have been a conditional use permit process from day one,” said Jeff Nelson, former co-chair of the Fairmount Neighborhood Association. Nelson currently serves on the neighborhood association’s are- na subcommittee.
