Alumni Class Notes Take On New Look

Alumni Class Notes take on new look. This spring in keeping with the latest fashion trends, the PDS Alumni Newsletter presents a streamlined silhouette. This newsletter, which will be published once each year, will take the place of the spring Journal. It will contain class notes, articles written by alumni, and news pertinent to alumni. The Journal will continue to bring you up-to-date on news of the entire school as well as alumni news but will be mailed only once a year, in the fall. The change in format was prompted by economic considerations but we hope you’ll find that the Newsletter\s just as full of interesting information as the Journal. Please keep in mind that both the Journal and the Newsletter will welcome your class notes as well as photographs, and will continue to count on your participation.

Linda Maxwell Stefanelli '62 has been ap pointed Alumni Secretary of Princeton Day School. She will be responsible for cor respondence with all classes, an editor of the Newsletter/Journal, and coordinator of all alumni activities. In addition to her work in the alumni office, Linda will be coaching squash and lacrosse. She and her husband Tony are the parents of two daughters and a son, Trip, PDS grade 5. Linda is the daughter of Sanders Maxwell PCD ’32. While at Miss Fine's School Linda was awarded the Gold P for her outstand ing athletic accomplishment and sportsman ship. Martha Sullivan Sword '73, formerly Alumni Secretary, will now act as Director of Alumni Relations for the school and Assistant to the Director of Development.

$1,000 Scholarships Awarded Three PDS Students Win Scholastic Art Awards

The national Scholastic Art Awards program for the encouragement of student achievement in creative art has announced their 1983 awards. Three seniors from Princeton Day School received top awards of gold achievement keys in the regional exhibition sponsored by the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News and the Philadelphia College of Art. They are: Sarah Cragg, pencil drawing; Laurie Gallup, oil; and Ebe Metcalf, sculpture.

The competition, nationally sponsored by Eastman Kodak, Hallmark Cards, and Strathmore Paper is in its 56th year. Conducted by Scholastic, Inc., with the cooperation of public-spirited sponsors, it has become an institution in the high school world. The regional exhibitions give students the opportunity for local recognition.

Two PDS Seniors, Rachel Leader and Erica Weeder, both of Princeton, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships by the National Merit Scholarship Corpora tion. Approximately 1,800 students nationally qualify for this type of award which is judged by a committee of college admissions officers and secondary school counselors on student's abilities, accomplishments, and promise for the future.
