Padmaavat Or Padmavati Movie Review Padmaavat or Padmavati Movie Review Padmaavat or Padmavati Movie Review is incomplete without talking about the commotion, aggression, anger and upheaval it created. Padmavati / Padmaavat depicts the legendary, Rani Padmavati, a heroic Rajput Queen of the Hindus. The Karni Sena opposed the film and aggressively demanded a ban; from intense violent threats to the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, being physically attacked in Rajasthan during the shooting phase- the movie has become one of the most controversial films in Bollywood, in the recent past. The Karni Sena claims the Bollywood movie has “distorted facts” and shows Rani Padmavati in a bad light. From Padmavati to the now “Padmaavat”, the journey has been pretty long and intense.Padmavati Movie Review: From Ban to the Big BashTo cut a long story short, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given another magnanimous cinematic experience with all the opulence and extravaganza! It is one of those period films that raise the standards for Bollywood filmmakers, actors and the audience. It’s a film that beautifully glorifies the Rajputs and the Rajput pride.Read: Indian Movie Padmavati banned in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and PunjabIn the broader sense, Padmaavat is a love story, but there are so many intricacies and elaborate themes that the movie goes far beyond being just another love saga. It shows the love story of the Princess of Singhal, Padmavati, played by the beautiful Deepika Padukone, and the King of Mevar, Maharwal Ratan Singh, played by the acclaimed actor Shahid Kapoor. From the beautiful love at first sight moments to the more lovely emotions leading to the second marriage of the king, it transcends you to another era.Read: Netanyahu Says Shalom Bollywood, Khans Skip the EventIt is when the mighty Mughal Emperor, Alauddin Khilji, played by the very versatile and fine actor, Ranveer Singh, enters the frame that the movie goes up several notches of brilliance. The influential ruler hears about the beautiful princess and sets his heart and mind on making her, his own. He declares wargradesfixer.com against Mevar. The movie now brings up even more intensity and emotions that keep you gripped. The movie is impressive, in parts, especially the details highlighted by the perfectionist Bhansali and also the cinematographers. Deepika is beautiful, graceful and does complete justice to her role, Shahid looks every bit of a king and rules with conviction, but it is Ranveer Singh that takes the cake! This is one Singh’s finest performances and the perfect pick for the role of a power hungry and obsessed emperor. The 3-hour long film gets much more gripping during the second half when political strategies and tactics are highlighted, along with the growth of individual characters. The film could have been a bit shorter though.Read: Nationalism or Vandalism - Challenges for Indian Movie Padmaavat / PadmavatiThe Padmavati Movie Review also deserves a mention for the beautiful, but “repetitive” songs. The “Ghoomar Ghoomar” song is already on the top of all Need help with the assignment? Our professionals are ready to assist with any writing! GET HELP music charts but there are other songs through the movie that though visually captivating seem similar to songs from previous works by Bhansali. Padmaavat glorifies the Rajput pride and throws light on the rich and beautiful culture. The costumes, technical expertise and camera mastery are what make this film what it is.Padmavati Movie Review: Final VerdictIn a way, Padmaavat has already been “successfully running” for months on what is called “negative popularity”. The Karni Sena have given the film so much importance over the last few months that it is already a movie that a majority of people are waiting for. However, one thing is for sure, Padmaavat / Padmavati is a sure shot success at the Indian box office and will always be remembered for its cinematographic brilliance. gradesfixer.com Need help with the assignment? Bollywood Shakespeares from Gulzar to Bhardwaj: Adapting, Assimilating and Culturalizing the Bard Koel Chatterjee PhD Thesis 10 October, 2017 I, Koel Chatterjee, hereby declare that this thesis and the work presented in it is entirely my own. Where I have consulted the work of others, this is always clearly stated. Signed: Date: 10th October, 2017 Acknowledgements This thesis would not have been possible without the patience and guidance of my supervisor Dr Deana Rankin. Without her ability to keep me focused despite my never-ending projects and her continuous support during my many illnesses throughout these last five years, this thesis would still be a work in progress. I would also like to thank Dr. Ewan Fernie who inspired me to work on Shakespeare and Bollywood during my MA at Royal Holloway and Dr. Christie Carson who encouraged me to pursue a PhD after six years of being away from academia, as well as Poonam Trivedi, whose work on Filmi Shakespeares inspired my research. I thank Dr. Varsha Panjwani for mentoring me through the last three years, for the words of encouragement and support every time I doubted myself, and for the stimulating discussions that helped shape this thesis. Last but not the least, I thank my family: my grandfather Dr Somesh Chandra Bhattacharya, who made it possible for me to follow my dreams; my mother Manasi Chatterjee, who taught me to work harder when the going got tough; my sister, Payel Chatterjee, for forcing me to watch countless terrible Bollywood films; and my father, Bidyut Behari Chatterjee, whose impromptu recitations of Shakespeare to underline a thought or an emotion have led me inevitably to becoming a Shakespeare scholar.

  • Has the Advent of Social Media Ended the Culture of Superstardom in Bollywood?

Abstract: Superstar as a term is synonymous with Bollywood. The glamorous world of Bollywood has witnessed the rise of several stars, making a mark with their talent, charm and charisma. While some manage to swoon the audience over their looks, there are some who sweep them off their feet and are tagged as the Superstars of Bollywood! From Dilip Kumar to Shah Rukh Khan, B-town has many names in this list of superstars. But lately, we only have stars. The culture of superstar has become redundant. Reason? May be the advent of social media. With easy accessibility and direct contact with a star over social media has brought down the curiosity that once existed around the film stars. The kind of stardom that has been enjoyed by the likes of Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, is missing with the actors of the newer generation. MAX Security Report [email protected] +44 203 540 0434 Protest India Tactical: Release of controversial film on 23 January 25 expected to trigger nationwide JAN protests by Rajput community; maintain 12:30 UTC vigilance Please be advised • According to reports from January 23 quoting their leader, the Rajput activist Karni Sena organization will hold protests nationwide on January 25 against the release of a controversial Bollywood film. The group believes that the film presents the Rajput community in a negative light, and their leadership has pledged that “if screening of the film is not stopped, members of our community will not stop from demolishing screens in theaters”. • Intermittent protests against the film occurred across Gurgaon, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on January 22-23, as protesters blocked roads and demonstrated outside cinema halls. Reports also indicate vandalism of a mall in Gurgaon on January 22 by suspected Karni Sena activists, with the organization denying any involvement and attributing the attack to mischievous elements. • On January 18, the Supreme Court ruled that the states of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat must allow the unimpeded release of the film. The same day, suspected Karni Sena activists allegedly attacked a cinema hall in Bihar, and the Hindu right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and allied Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organizations extended support for a ban on the movie. • Karni Sena supporters gathered outside the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) office in Mumbai on January 12, with 100 activists detained by police personnel shortly after. The organization held its largest protest march against the film in Surat, Gujarat on November 12 2017, page 1 / 4 which reportedly drew participation in excess of 100,000.

  • Vigilantism Against Migrants and Minorities; First Edition
4 PROTECTING HOLY COWS Hindu vigilantism against Muslims in India Juhi Ahuja Introduction On 28 September 2015, a Muslim man named Mohammed Akhlaq and his son Danish were brutally attacked by a Hindu mob in their home in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, India. The mob, which beat up both father and son with sticks and bricks, accused them of storing and consuming beef. As they had no way of proving otherwise, the violent episode resulted in the unfortunate death of Akhlaq. Danish was seriously injured. Despite the family’s pleas that the meat in question was actually goat meat, not beef, the police sent samples to a laboratory for testing. It indeed turned out that the meat was mutton, not beef. Several individuals were arrested for the crime, to which local villagers protested. At least two of the arres- ted were affiliated to the local village temple, and at least one was linked to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) (Huffpost 2017). The aftermath of the incident was deeply politicized in a climate already fraught with inter-communal tensions and politics. Media coverage of the attack was widespread and stoked religious sentiments. National and local political parties were quick to capitalize on the attack as politicians visited the home of Akhlaq’s family – all of which was reported on and even televised. Despite the arrests made, little was done to allay the fears of Muslims who form India’s largest religious minority group. Given the local authorities’ delayed treatment of the attack (police were rather slow to respond) and determination to verify the type of meat, it seems almost as if should the meat indeed have been beef, the crime committed against Akhlaq and Danish may not have been treated by the state as too severe or repre- hensible.
