Okazaki Castle & Okazaki Park The Okazaki Park is full of history and culture: it ranked in the “Best
100 historical parks of Japan” and in the “Most famous 100 cherry
trees spots”. Many historical spots can be found here. They are
related to the birth of Tokugawa Ieyasu. They include the
“Toushoukou Well”, the “Toushoukou Ena Mound”, both of which are
said to be fortune bringing spots, a fortress and inner moat, all of
which are related to Tokugawa Ieyasu and can only be found in
Okazaki. In particular, the Okazaki Castle is also known as the
castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu was born. Visitors will have a great
view of the city from the castle tower. During the cherry blossom
festival period of the year, visitors will experience some 150 street
stalls all lit up. These always attract many tourists.

Mikawa Bushi Yakata Ieyasu Hall A historical museum especially built for visitors to the Okazaki Park. (inside the Okazaki Park) It traces back chronologically in 8 different themes the lives of
Tokugawa Ieyasu’s ancestor Hiramatsu and Tokugawa Ieyasu
himself starting from the origins of the Mikawa bushi (samurais). It is
a must see museum for its collection of military equipment, its
samurai helmets and armours, and its reproduction of the Batlle of
Sekigahara. Visitors will also be able to try on pieces of armour and find out the weight of real swords (katanas).

The Great “Aoi” General Ieyasu Troop This entertainment band is formed by “Tokugawa Ieyasu”, “Sakai
Tadaharu”, Honda Tadakatsu”, Sakakibara Kozumi” and “Ii
Naomasa”, 9 people who call themselves the “Great Aoi General
Ieasu Troop”. Their goal is to convey the charm of the historical
Okazaki by talking to visitors, take pictures with them and attract to
them through live show performances in the Okazaki Park.
Live performances on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 11:00
and from 14:00.
Kakukyu Hatcho Miso and Maruya Hatcho Miso “Hatcho Miso” is a miso (Japanese fermented bean paste) brand
beloved by Tokugawa Ieyasu. The Hatcho Miso is slowly aged over
a period of two Summers and Winters, keeping the traditional recipe
which can be traced 400 years in past to the early years of the Edo
Era. Today, two manufacturers, Kakukyu Hatcho and Maruya
Hatcho, still keep the tradition alive. Visitors can visit the factory with
prior reservation and get a first-hand feel of the competition for
making the “true” taste of the Hacho Miso. Please enjoy the Hacho
Miso, a brand attracting people from all over Japan and the world!
