She was one of the first to establish Machiavellian=s ability to sire performers with far more stamina than this fast son of Mr. Prospector had demonstrated. Machiavellian generally needed some help from his mates to produce a stayer, a prime example being Invermark, his winner of the 2 1/2-mile Prix du Cadran, who was out of a stoutly bred Glint of Gold mare. With the St Leger winner Bustino as her broodmare sire, Whitewater Affair stayed well enough to win the G3 John Porter S. over a mile and a half and the Prix de Pomone over 1 11/16 miles at four, when she was also second in the and third in the Irish St Leger.
