City Manager Weekly Update

TO: Mayor and City Council Members City Commissioners

FROM: Benjamin Siegel, City Manager

DATE: September 6, 2018

SUBJECT: Weekly Update ______

Disaster Preparedness Month: On September 4, the City Council adopted a resolution recognizing September as National Preparedness Month in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) national campaign. The goal of National Preparedness Month is to build awareness and encourage community members to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. Community members are reminded that it is each individual’s responsibility to prepare for a disaster as government entities will be inundated and may be unavailable to assist in the days following a major emergency. The City offers many volunteer emergency preparedness groups that are currently seeking volunteers including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Large Animal Rescue Team (LART), Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES), and the Police Services Associated Senior Action Program (ASAP). For more information, please contact Lynn Mata, Emergency Manager, at (949) 443-6304 or [email protected] or visit https://www.ready.gov for additional preparedness tips and resources.
